Re: New addition to my milsurp collection
You got to be shitting me, you passed on a clean under 50,000 mile car? Two grand? I would be selling that for five grand here. By '99 these cars were pretty good, the timing gear issues of the late 80's models were worked out, the transmissions were good, it was rust that killed them, all the brake and fuel lines would rust off, but they still ran 200,000 miles easy.steelbuttplate wrote:I just passed on a '99 Buick Lesabre that would have been the ultimate road hunting car. The 3.8 V6. 45,000 miles. Needed camo paint is all. New tires. $2000.Sonny wrote:Right on that would make a great hunting rig.

There's always a deal around here somewhere. Little old women get too old to drive. I could have got a '96 Caddy Deville 2 yrs ago for a grand. 90,000 needed a head gasket job, still ran.

Unless it was a Fleetwood RWD brougham I wouldn't touch that caddy with a ten foot pole. Crap, 4.1, 4.5, 4.9. and all that followed, just crap. They would have been better served had they used the Buick 3.8 in the front drive caddy. The fleetwoods with the LT1's were OK, you could crank some miles out of them, but they vanished in '96 to be replaced by that spiffed up Chevy suburban, the Escalade.

That is just awesome.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Re: New addition to my milsurp collection
I never saw a 2 door rear wheel drive Cadillac after 1991, the coupe deville became a front drive car in 1985 and they reamed the full size a Fleetwood. The 1992-96 rear dive fleetwoods had the LT1 350 and were 4 door. You made a huge mistake not grabbing one if you could have it low miles and cheap. I have seen these cars crack 500,000 miles on the original drivetrain. The northstar and the 4.9 were both less than optimal, the 350 was the same engine any Chevy would have ( if they came LT1 equipped like police cars)steelbuttplate wrote:It was a two door, which one is that.? Rust was the big deal with them up here, everything else was minor maintenance crap. We never got calls for motors, transmissions, the fenders are plastic.

Re: New addition to my milsurp collection
Found the replacement winch on CL, and it actually showed up as advertised. Guy converted his M37 to a Cummins diesel with auto trans and lost the PTO. Very nice winch, new cable and hook, not cheap, but still cheaper than shipping one in from eBay or the parts sellers.

Re: New addition to my milsurp collection
New Winch, not new, but pretty much unused. Came off an M37 that had a Cummins with automatic swapped into it, the guy lost his PTO when he went Bubba on the drivetrain, lucky for me as the winch is in nice shape with new cable and hook. Exact one that belongs on my M37, nothing to alter or acquire, ready to go once I get the old one off. The old one has broken internals and damaged end.

v-126 radar truck, he only thing that remains of this now is the stabilizer that screws down on the right rear of the truck. Other than the dismountable radar set the truck was identical to any other M37 weapons carrier.
