Sorry it took me so long to get back on here.
Thanks for the heads up on the barrel bands, I'll have to look into it.
I do love the rifle-makes my sixth mosin-my only American rifle. You're right-wood and steel are way better. I love having an American made "Russian" rifle. Good ol American walnut is nice. In a lot of ways i compare it to my 1885 High Wall.
