You hate that stock? What do you want from a milsurp? I like it, and the little nicks or bumps are what a milsurp is supposed to have. These are the original German rifles, just scrubbed. The Mod 98 is not scrubbed, but was left there. Look very close at the front and rear sights all over with a magnifying glass if needed and you might just find a couple of German marks remaining. I did. You got a good deal I think.

Where did I say I didn't like it because it was dinged up??bunkysdad wrote:You hate that stock? What do you want from a milsurp? If anything I think the stock is in awesome shape with very few dings and dents for what it is. it's a nice stock i just don't like it because I wanted an original with the cupped but plate and take down disc. I would have gladly taken one that was a little more beaten up but like I described.
On a side note you can tell they really under load the new production 8mm. I was expecting the thing to kick but it's the lightest recoiling larger cal rifle I have other then maybe this new swed if I don't send it back to samco.

Better pic of disc.

Ding in sight.

Have not cleaned this thing at all.

Nice looking Swede. The stock on mine looks and feels similar to yours. The stock looks practically new. I can't help you with deciphering the stock disk, although I may have a link that will help if I can find it.

From my understanding of the disc it reads.BubbaDX wrote:Nice looking Swede. The stock on mine looks and feels similar to yours. The stock looks practically new. I can't help you with deciphering the stock disk, although I may have a link that will help if I can find it.
Bore dia as 6.49 which was the smallest the older disk like this one went.
On boer condition it was a 1 then got lowered to a 2 then lowered again to a 3.
I think that's right but I am not sure.
I also noticed that there is no number on the holdover part of the disk.

Member OldOutlaw can probably tell you all about that Swede.

Yep, you are right Mustang, you never said that. Sorry buddy. I see what you mean about the butt plate and the lack of the bolt take down but you still have a great looking rifle. If you can find some Turkish 8mm you will have found some of the hottest stuff out there. It used to be cheap but not any more. It is easy to spot. It comes on stripper clips in a 70 rd cloth bandoleer.

There's one guy I know of selling Turkish 8mm like that Russell and he's usually high and this is no exception. It's in the list at the link below. There's still some other stuff like some 90's M-75 Sniper Grade Yugo and some 80's M-49 Yugo that's more than the M-75. It's also high but still not to bad for quality ammo. Still haven't figured out why the M-49 is more than the M-75. http://gun-deals.com/list/ammo/8mm+Mauserbunkysdad wrote:Yep, you are right Mustang, you never said that. Sorry buddy.
