Ponycar,
Here is some of the pics finally.

You can catch any kind of fish that swims in North america on these basic jigs and basic colors.

The Omni Flex line is from Walmart and about $3.00 and the Mr Crappie is about $6.00 both are great and all you will need, don't get sucked into the high priced line for the type fishing you are doing.

Look at the 3rd picture you can see the 1/32nd oz and 1/16th oz jigs with the basic colors--- green/black spec ---green/red spec ---black green tail--pumpkinseed---
you will also need a few 1/8th oz jigs.

The 1st picture is the plastic 1 1/2 " tube jigs that you can use you can get a 100 pack of the 1/32 oz jigs off ebay way cheap. You can also get 1/16th oz also.

Thanks for the pics Tennessee mosin! I know I have some of those in the tackle boxes. Never paid them much attention because I never have used them or known how. Guess I gotaa do some research on how to fish with jigs haha.
Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

The jigs are a very good suggestion. When it comes to line, I decide what test I want, and then get the brand with the smallest diameter in that strength. Smaller diameter means more line on the spool. I avoid the braided super lines (SpiderWire, etc.) they are too strong I have found. If you get hung up and have to break off they are sometimes difficult to break, and they tend to bury themselves into the line on the spool which leads to a mess. I AM a fan of SpiderWire Monofilament. I don't mind ponying up a little extra for line.
I also like these RoadRunner jig heads. These are great for bass in ponds. Just dress them with the jig body of your choice. http://www.ttiblakemore.com/home/vm?pag ... gory_id=71

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I've cut down a really cheap fly rod with mixed results. It's kinda long, and hard to mount a handle or reel on, but some corks and duct tape later and I was in business. Sadly it broke several years ago and I tossed it.

For my really tiny stuff I use a Zebco Micro 11 (don't laugh). It's cheap, say thirty bucks for rod and reel kit, and effective. Corks the size of a penny, a fly, and a splitshot casts to about twenty yards.
Things could be worse. Work to keep from finding out how much worse.
