last year i got one of the chinese SKSs that came from Albania, to some here it would be a jewel. early [ 1958 ] all machined parts. no rust . cleaned and fired it without a problem. but it was just plain UGLY, the stock was shameful looking. dings galore. not my kind of rifle. most of the SKSs coming threw the importers are beaters. a nice SKS is a 500-600 dollar rifle.

500-600 dollars for an SKS, that would possibly get someone a very nice real Albanian, a mint unfired still in the box Russian refurb, maybe a DDR or letter series, or if your real lucky an Izhevsk. There are plenty of "nice" SKS's for lower prices. Lately, I've seen plain refurbed Russians, matching sold in the upper 300-lower mid 400 dollar range. The normal Norinco and Yugo's float in the 350 to 400 range, give or take a little based on area, Romanians can also be found in the same price range. Just keep the eyes and ears open, the rush has let up and prices have fallen a good bit from 6 months ago. While prices may not return to previous levels, at least the prices have declined lately.

Perfect example of what can be found, 1960 Romanian, mismatched, with an original Romanian sling, bought July 12, 2013, price $300 out the dealers door.
