My Lyman Trade Rifle is here!

If it fires black powder, it is discussed here.

Nice Hawken dolk. Is it a DGW/Investarm rifle? I would like to have a Ferguson rifle for my next black powder weapon :) .

Good luck with that, even a reproduction would be very expensive.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

tjtM38 wrote:I like that Hawken you have Dolk. Is it a Thompson Center? You don't see too many in .58. That is also quite a bullet-making operation you have there. Now all you need is some way to make black powder in case the Feds try to ban the stuff.
It's an "Investarms" Hawkins. Basically the same as a Thompson and the parts are interchangeable. Not many in .58 and there is a reason. They are hard on your shoulder when firing a Minni. Last time out with Mini's and full load was four rounds on my left shoulder and three on my right. Had to stop and I had bruising the next day. I don't fire it full load anymore. :bwink: But I'll bet you could drop a very large bear with this thing easy.

I have enough black powder to do anything I want to (right now). In fact, the stuff worries me a bit! I think I have enough to level my house!

A couple of pounds would probably do that, the reason why I do not store powder were I live, get a shed, keep it out there in a lockbox.

An intersting note that the Renegade was available at one time by TC in 56 cal and it was a smoothbore! Why a smoothbore you might ask. To meet the requirements for black powder hunting in certain states that require smooth bore only.

You could use it as a fouler as well as shooting patched ball. Hell, I would just hunt with the Bess using patched ball, mine is OK out to 50-75 yards, iffy at 100, and only The Force allows it to connect to anything I am aiming at past that.
