CVA Plainsmen Flintlock

If it fires black powder, it is discussed here.

Nice, in the 70's CVA marketed that as their Kentucky rifle, I have the same one with a caplock, it's a .45 caliber.

That was a popular package back then, looks lightly used, or not used at all, typical. I have the same set in caplock, nice :)

Those are beautiful. I would agree, they look like new. I could really enjoy shooting that little flintlock pistol. I have a caplock Jukar (I think) that is pretty much ruined. It was given to me and I boxed it up for now until I find the time to try to bring it back to like. It sat in a barn for at least 20 years, and is rusted, with a bleached out dried out stock.

A lot of these were bought as decoration pieces back during the 1970's bicentennial celebration when it was all the rage to have "Revolutionary War" flintlock up on the wall, or over the fireplace.

Yup; I built one that was my 13th BD/Christmas present. The only thing my Dad did on it is heat and bent the hammer so it hit the nipple square. I did everything else. I shot it loose, (it developed a gap between the breechblock and the barrel), gave it to a friend to help spark his interest in BP (He was into the 'mountain man' thing), then he gave it to another friend who fixed the barrel retainer pin by replacing it with a bolt cased in a .44 case, and ground the rear sight into a single blade. He gave it back to me to use for parts, which I have been doing. Skipper keeps asking me to rebuild it; there's not much left to start with!

I see these caplock versions selling here and there all the time, the flintlock is harder to find.
