Thanks, Noble Sniper. It pays sometimes to get to the gun show early.

Nice spread, Jim! I anxiously await a video on that group.

The type 38 in the lighter colored stock is out now waiting for me to get around to it, that one was taken right out of a Tokyo arsenal in 1945 and it is ground, however the grind mark looks like it was just done yesterday, that's how well this one was stored. It appears to be near unissued, spotless bore, all matching. The type 38 above it is school marked over the mum, but was captured in the Philippians by the man I bought it from, also matching, pretty good bore, sling and bayonet frog , with bayonet also captured with it. I say captured, but the man himself put it another way " I picked it up off a dead Jap" The type 99 and the 44 carbine were also captured, and also unground, both bought from Vets who were moving south and unloading their lifetimes of junk before the move. That was 30 years ago when these rifles had yet to be appreciated and could be had very cheap.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
