Hi bob from Ohio!
Welcome to the forums and grab a seat and get comfortable. Ask those questions and in fact, post some photos, the guys love to see photos (that's how we pay them! Cheap huh! :chuckles: ).

Welcome aboard!

Kudo's on the no sporterization position. I have a friend who has a Nazi marked Mauser that he plans on sporterizing. He honestly thinks he will add value to the gun. :beek:
Hi
wolverine...... Well, your friend will add money to the Mauser if he butchers it alright. He will nver get out of it what it is worth if he leaves it alone. He can think all he wants to, but it isn't going to happen. His rifle will be worth less on the market then if it was untouched not to mention all the money he will toss in it. And it won't shoot as accurate and straight as a moder hunting rifle will anyway. Double loose!

Welcome to the forums, and you keep reading here, and you will find out why the history is so important to us here. A sportster is just another rifle stripped of that history.

Exactly, I mentioned that a modern sporter will be more accurate... and that I would buy it from him. *shrugs*

Sporterized rifles are terrible, I will pay $400 for an untouched Enfield before I ever would a $150 sporter.

I love that this website is so history oriented. I have some 55 firearms, many of them are military surplus, and not a one of those have been sporterized. Picked up a beat up M44, German K98 and M1887/87/15 recently. My interested has been rekindled. lol

Welcome to the board, explain to your friend that what he will lose by touching that Nazi Mauser could well buy between 2-5 Mosins depending on the rifle.

Just signed up. I'm the latest new guy. Just looking to gain some info on my Russian SKS, and my recent 91/ 30. I will read thru the rules as the Nosin will have some changes, at least a modern stock for hunting. I want to keep the furniture for putting it back to stock for military shoots... I will add a scope, but will not alter putting it back to fixed sights at a later time. It actually shoots very well with fixed sights in place. Anyway, hello, and I will shut up, read and learn. :2cents:

Welcome Wolverine. Sounds like you're in the right place and will fit in around here just fine. It's so nice to see someone that gets it. Stick around and try to get your buddy to see the light. Otherwise we'll have to send Vinnie to pay him a visit if he ruins that Nazi Marked Mauser. I'm shaking my head here. He will be ruining it too.

OK, my second post.
Hi all. I'm a gun nut but more recently and specifically a Mosin Nagant gun. A week ago I opened a crate and picked a rifle that I thought looked the best and I bought it. I took it home and started to try to find out something about the markings. It turns out that my first Mosin is a 1933 Hex MO doubled date with all matching numbers and in really great condition. So here we go......
I ordered an M44 last Saturday.
1933 Izhevsk M91/30. Hex. MO 1933/50. Matching. Red letter. Excellent condition.
M44 Izhevsk.

Welcome to he board, sounds like you had some luck on the first try  You know how it goes with luck, you could have picked a winner out of the crate going in blind, or you could have gotten a quick pick powerball ticket and won 100 million. Good thing you stopped at the gunshop first

Latest but I can guarantee you not the last! Keep those parts and don't permanently alter it in any way or you will lose money on it.

Hey guys,

Most of you will probably recognize me over at gunboards.com.

Its where i normally hang out. Thus my few posts here.

But i have decided to hang out here more. The constant pampering to a certain bad apple over there by the administration has made me accelerate my decision to go where the light is.

I don't have to worry about him here; because you guys have already handled him.. which i applaud you.

My main focus in collecting is the mosin nagant; i prefer the m91, but like them all. I am a purist by heart, so i think i should fit in fine here.

Thats it, just wanted to say hello.

All the best,

Kirk

Welcome aboard Kirk. You wasted too much time over there!
I know who you are talking about, and I warned Vic about him a few weeks ago. He was there TROLLING their forums and after getting tossed here, now is there "friend"....they can have him! :chuckles: He has maybe 3 months experience collecting Mosins!

Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the warm welcome Dolk!

Yep he has about 4-5months under his belt. I know because I created my worst enemy...

I found him over ar15.com helped him out on his first few purchases. Invited him over to gunboards before i realized what he was... he quickly got two negative feedbacks and then came here.

Now you guys dealt with him and he is back trolling on gunboards. I had enough going where the sane people are.. which is here with you fine folks.

Cheers

Hello all, glad to be here. I currently own two Mosin Nagant rifles. One I purchased and one I was actually lucky enough to win at a "Friends of NRA" banquet as a door prize. I'm looking forward to gaining lots of new knowledge here about my rifles, especially that door prize one. It's an odd duck; I can't seem to find another with the same features. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures of it soon so I can learn what it is!

Hi everyone and thanks for having me as a member, My name is Mike and like so many of you have become a bit of a Mosin Finnatic. With Finns being some of my favorites. A few of my friends say I have gone overboard but I don't think so. I have amassed over a hundred now but I am slowing down. If I could part with some of the duplicates I could have room for more. I built four racks of twenty and filled them all and have not space for another rack so some of mu beauties stay in the safe or closet untill thier turn comes around. OK enough of me for now, talk to you again soon...Mike
