I thought you'd like to see my very first Mosin. Well my first centerfire rifle tbh. She's in almost perfect condition. I suspect she has had very little use, possibly even un-issued? I got her from AIM last November
I've put about 20 rounds through her so far but stopped after I found a few cracked cases. Happily it seems from what I've read here that its just a surplus ammo problem so I'll take her out for a proper shoot next week
1944 Sako, very cool, great first centerfire weapon
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I'm really happy to have got it. Forgot just how much kick is in a 7.62 lol! Bruised my shoulder a little, but great fun. Looking forward to doing some proper bench shooting next week to see what she can really do
You have the right rifle for some good shooting, the M39 is made for accuracy.

nice rifle, maybe i am one of the few that thinks the MN is a very sleek looking rifle. i really do love the looks. . the enfield and springfield just look clunky[ is that a word] to me. if my Mosins were a lady she would be about 5-10 110 pounds. ravin black hair you fill in the rest.

Sorry, you made me wander off course there for a minute.
Anywho, I remember that short lived collection of m39's that AIM listed for sale. All nice ones I remember, and yours is beautiful. I can honestly say, that even if you never buy another Mosin, that you will have had a great milsurp time in your life. But then again there are so many other models that make collecting Mosins a real joy, and many can be had for a lot less than the m39. The m39 is a special rifle for sure.
I took my M39 to the range yesterday - great fun even though it was way too hot! I put the "sock" type recoil pad on and it makes a world of difference to the shoulder. I did a comparison shoot between my 31 Tula and the 44 M39 at 100 yards. The M39 had a 3 inch grouping while the Tula was on target (mostly) but pretty widely spaced. Definitely a difference in the guns.
Thanks guys. I was really happy at being able to get hold of such a great rifle in such good condition. Next on the list is a Swedish mauser at some point. I'll be taking the M39 for a proper shoot on wednesday so I'll let you all know how she does

Not that again

THAT is one sweet rifle you have there and I will bet my last nickel that it will be one VERY accurate shooter. I have found the M39 to be a fantastic rifle. Yours is a very very fine example of this wonderful rifle. Congrats on a fantastic purchase.
