Did you try shooting it without your shim strips? Do you know anything about barrel harmonics?

Take all the shims and other crap off of the rifle and fire it again with the action properly locked in place, these are 60-100 year old battle rifles, don't expect MOA performance out of them. If they shoot well alls the better, but 4-6 MOA at 100 yards is the normal expected from a refurb 91/30 of any year.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I have all day today! Maybe i can ask questions and then ignore the advice too. Hmmm. I want my guns to shoot bad, do you think i should plug the ends of the barrels and that would make them shoot worse? I have a target that is the side of the barn, If i shoot straight up in the air do you think i can reach the barn with my bayonet?

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work, because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation!

I do have a couple of these rifles. :bwink: Hombre is old so he just automatically knows shi#. JYD knows all from years of experience with these types. It is funny what you may learn if sometimes you listen to people with experience

I am 74 years old so to me you are still a kid even if you are 20. Any way it does not matter how old you are - it is how maturely you act.

BTW If I got a copy of your driver's licence I would steal your identity and charge your credit cards to the max. :shifty:

The whole point of having wiggle is to allow the barrel to flex with out snagging. I get paid well for free floating and it has always worked, Check to see if the pins are tight in the rear base-Steve
