Model 5 or model 60?

Post by Varmit1 »

I have this Marlin .22lr which was their first "Micro grooved" barrel (I think).

The barrel is stamped 'Model 5' but the booklet that came with it says Model 60.

I can find no info on a model 5 by Marlin, but tons on a Model 60.

Anybody heard of a model 5? :?:

Google model 5 Marlin and you will find several answers to your question. It seems those were made for the Big 5 stores. They are a model 60. Back in the day it was common for stores like Sears, Montgomery Wards and even local hardware stores had guns made by big manufacturer's with their own model names on them.

Yep. a Marlin 60, I have it's twin in the closet, nice shooters, pretty much eternal, the chances of wearing it out in your lifetime are slim, Marlins bread and butter design.

Nice looking rifle. I have a Marlin/Glenfield 70, with the squirrel engraved on it. Great shooting rifle.
