Depends on what caliber you are ok with and the platform. You can get a rock river .45 1911 for your top dollar amount. Or a CZ82 would be good for the cheap side. My Taurus 738 is in my pocket all the time. Easy to carry and conceal but only a .380 Then there are a ton of other options in that price range. You want a wheel gun or auto? Caliber?

I am looking for something either in .45 or 9mm...
Preferably a Semi-auto double action.

I got my ruger lcr 357 for under $500. Around $450. A kahr cm9 9mm can be had around $400. It really just depends on the size, caliber, and style of pistol you want. The smith and wesson j frames are nice. But I like my lcr's trigger better. What size of pistol are you looking at? Small and easily concealed or larger.

Size wise, I am looking for something around the size of a Sig P226 or smaller...
Edit, and I am not too big on Revolvers...just not my style.

You have alot of choices for that budget. Kahr cm9, ruger lc9, maybe the smith and wesson shield, kahr cw9/cw45. There are tons that fit that price range. I went really small because I pocket carry alot. I wasn't into revolvers either at first. Then I got one and the grew on me fast haha. They just made more sense to me the more I thought about them. I'm hoping to add some more handguns to my collection soon if I can get away from rifles haha. Maybe a couple revolvers too :)

I'll second the CZ-82, The wife and I both carry one. I also have a S&W Bodyguard .380, much smaller, less capacity, but much easier to hide. A Ruger LCP is what my father totes. It's one of those things like BuckeyeSgt said, wheel gun or semi, caliber, there is a ton of options.

Here is the Bodyguard .380. Small grip took a while to get used to, but for the size, it's easier to shoot/handle than the Polish P-64 I have. The added factory laser, I'm not overly thrilled with, I prefer the sights.

Don't rule out Kel-Tec. Not the prettiest gun but very well made; the PF-9 is light compact and packs 9 x 19 firepower. Sells for under 300 most places.

I had one and had alot of problems with it. Wouldn't extract anything lol. Even after I sent it back for repair. It was uncomfortable to shoot and very very snappy recoil. I got so frustrated with it I sold it. Thats why I got the cm9. Had never jammed on me, is about the same size or smaller, and is way more comfy to shoot.

Ruger GP100 .357 magnum, or one of the 1911 clones.

The LGS sells a LOT of Bera Thunders and none come back. They're styled like a Walther PP. They seem like a nice affordable pistol.

The bersa thunder was my first firearm. Its a great handgun! Easy to shoot, easy to care for, and accurate. I stupidly sold it though. I got rid of my 380's because I got tired of high cost of the ammo. Now I have mostly 9mm's

How about a used Colt or Springfield 1911, or a new RIA 1911. Don't go telling me that you can't carry a gun that big, cause I do it every day, and I am not a large man. You just have to buy a good belt and a good holster (Uncle Mike won't work) I would rather have 9 rounds of .45 ACP with a back-up mag or two then a whole damn box of 9mm.

And, you all don't have to remind me of my pasty white skin, but you have to admit, I have a nice butt. :D

O_o

That's a full sized 1911?

I'm sold, I know what I want, screw price.

That is a full size, plain Jane, 1990s Springfield 1911a1. I carry it daily, and comfortably. It shoots very well even after tens of thousands of rounds down-range. The only things I ever changed were the grips (the wooden ones irritated me if I didn't have an undershirt on) and I had my jeweler put gold dots in my sights for greater visibility. (Cheaper than you would imagine)
Edit: I thought you all might like to see the results of the gold beads. The Jeweler, who is also a WWII vet, added the beads for $20.00.

Also, a little off topic, just noticed your photos are in front of a metric ton of mosins, lol
=P

Well, looks like I am going to go for a 1911, I am 6' 2" so I should have no problem concealing it.

Actually, Kiloy, I only own one old rusty, obsolete Russian rifle and one pistol. That was just an illusion.
