Handpicked AIM Mosin Nagant sniper - Uncensored

Post by martin08 »

To begin, I got exactly what I paid for. Not complaining in the least. I now have a reasonably priced Mosin Nagant M91/30 sniper rifle that I will be able to shoot - at just under $620 with cost, $10 handpick, shipping and FFL transfer.

Now, uncensored, here is the gun before any cosmoline cleaning. The fit of the furniture leaves much to be desired, though the shellac finish is nearly flawless. The turned down bolt shows rough grinding after a weld. The bore is uncleaned, and may clear up, but the rifling is not sharp, has heavy frosting, and moderate cleaning rod wear at the muzzle end.

Pics will tell the rest of the story.

Again, no judgement. Range test will be the proof for me.

Just thought I'd share the specimen as it came from the box. As always, thanks for looking

Real, fake, half fake, some fake, what's the verdict? Been waiting for someone to let me know, Bryan from Aim was on last week but he didn't say much. What do you think???????

Heavily refurbished, lined out, restamped. But original mount and base. SVT scope, not a repro. I guess it is no different than a regular refurb that came out of the Ukraine. Certainly not an original configuration.

Real, but refurbed.

The bore leaves quite a bit to be desired, but if it shot poorly I'd think it would've been decommissioned.

Maybe they were on their way to be decommed and never made it, and then they were refurbed back to sniper with leftover parts hanging around? That may explain the worn bores and the cobbled look. ? :|

From what I am hearing there is no real reason why the facts shouldn't have been made clear well before the sale started.

the problem is that they weren't.

The whole thing with the Sniper rifles is getting a quality & genuine product. If money were not an object everyone would prefer the real deal in very good to excellent condition & not some refurb or a worn & tired example. The early imports, Finn snipers, Hungarian, etc, etc are all spoken for, expensive & out of the system in private collections. Very seldom do they become available & when they do, prepare for sticker shock. Not knocking them; These Aim products seem OK & some will be fine, But I think I would be more inclined to still spend a few $$$ more & get the genuine article.
