Buying New Mosin Nagant

Post by HAGZ1LLA »

Hi, you can call me Hagz.

I am looking into purchasing my first rifle and would like to get a Tula or Iszevsk sniper. I have been looking for a couple day all across the web trying to find pictures of what and where to look for the "7 numbers on the left side of the receiver", the "CU tested for sniper" and I am hoping all of you can help me find the right rifle I'm looking for. If you have pics and can show I would greatly appreciate it, I would love as much information as possible.

I am also looking at getting a scope right now. I would like to get this scope for now until I can afford an original Pu scope, also do I need a snipers bolt with this scope? If so where can I find an original bolt? not one of these new mods, or screw on handles.

Any and all information and advise will be appreciated.

R Guns has original PU snipers, they have been authenticated by many buyers here on the forum, the real thing costs near a grand, and nothing else is worth the time but the real thing, nothing gets respect like the real thing either. It would be a good idea to read through the recent sniper posts to get a good understanding of how to recognize the real deal.

Dam, that's right, I forgot, things are being moved around to deal with some forum operational issues, that must be one of them. Well, you are going to have to read the old posts in the sniper section, and on the Mosin board. If you find a good candidate you can always post it here before buying ( I highly recommend doing so as some have recently been disappointed after spending money for fake PU's) and the forum can point out what's real and what's not. Sniper can run to real money, even fakes can be $600, and fakes seem to outnumber the real deal these days. honest sellers will tell you up front that it's a repop sniper, if you read the small print real careful. Some others might try to pass it off as real, or simply pretend they don't know. Lot of fraud in the world of sniper rifles, so buyer be very beware, ask lots of questions, do your homework, use the knowledge here on the forum to avoid a costly mistake. Forget about resnipering a former sniper, once it's been refurbed all the sniper parts are gone, the mounting holes welded up, and it's back to a 91/30 rifle. Trying to "resniper" it is creating a fake, and against forum policy.

Thanks for the insight Junk yard. I'd love to say I'm buying it to start my collection but, I am buying it as a hunting/shooting rifle. I am mostly looking for a cheaper 91/30 Russian/Finn that has good accuracy and a better smoother trigger. However, Later in life i will start collecting WWII Rifles, Pistols, Sub, Lmg's, and Sniper rifles.

JYD, that page is only visible to administrators or those that request it from me. I have to put them on the permission list and then it will be available. That is why you can see it Jim and they can't.

I do this to keep the fakers from knowing what we look for. Although there are many more secrets than the ones on that page, there is no reason to help out the fakers.

If you would like to see the page and have been a member here with a few post, just PM me and I will add you to the list.

I am not a sniper expert not do I collect them. From the wise folks here I have learned that if you want a real deal you go to rguns. Just my :2cents:

If you are talking about surplus rifles there are a dozen or so. As far as the snipers go i would not know that. As far as i know there is Rguns, aim, classic arms and royal tiger i think. There are other places that may have some. As always it is buyer beware though. Do your homework and some reading on various forums and ask questions. :D

Welcome to the forum, and if it's a PU sniper you intend to acquire then study up on the subject very carefully as the field abounds with all sorts of fake PU snipers. Many a PU buyer has come to grief on learning that the "PU" they spend a large stack of cash on is in fact a fake. Learn how to tell real from fake, and the R guns suggestion is a good one as they have been selling the real thing.
