M91/59

Post by Darryl »

I got this a few months back and forgot to post on the forums here.

Originally purchased from Alan's Armory. The bore is bright and shiny with good rifling, on a 1943 dated Izhevsk receiver.
Serial numbers match on receiver and mag floor plate; bolt is electro-pencil matching.

The stock is not a Polish stock (Polish stocks were only M44 stocks) It is a "new" purpose built M38 stock. Built for the M91/59 only.
There were a small group of M91/59's that came in with new stocks, all from Allen's Armory.

Enjoy

Very nice. There was a 91/59 on GB, but I just didn't have the $$$ for it at the time.

Very nice - Alan had (has?) some really choice rifles.

I like. Very nice. That's the first time I've noticed a serial number added in dot matrix that's the same as the original.

Hello,

How much are these going for these days, and where can they be found?

Reason I ask is I'm sort of missing my 1944 M44 (which was, incidentally, my first centerfire rifle). I love the M91/30, but sometimes I want a carbine version again, but without the weight of the bayonet. This means an M91/38 or M91/59.

I do not want to hack down an M91/30. Unless the crown and muzzle rifling are damaged, I don't like to shorten rifles. Even then, no more than an inch or two are required to restore proper crown and sharp rifling.

Yes, there are some places in which I do draw the line for myself! I have nothing against those who want to do radical plastic surgery to their own rifles, but it doesn't appeal to me if I can't reverse it.

A dinged-up stock would be more preferable as my rifles are all working guns and will be dinged up anyway in the course of duty. Saw some tracks in the woods that have me questioning the firepower and killing power of my 1911 and cast loads, so I've taken to carrying a rifle while out there.

Any help in finding one of these is appreciated!

Josh

So how many with messed up muzzles have you "fixed" by cutting the end off of? A counter bore done during refurb turned my m44 into a great shooter.
