Hi guys! Acquired another AK this week I believe it's a Romanian "G" style wasr. However, the bolt handle is very different from my other Wasr 10/63. Does anyone else have an AK similar to this one?
Looks like someone modified it. I think its a galil style charge handle. Maybe thats what the"G" stands for. But it looks like a shotty job. But if it works. It can look neat if done right.

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

I don't think it's a bubba modification. It's definitely machined out of one piece to the bolt carrier. It's neat and professionally made. I can tell I'm a machinist I've tried finding one similar on google with no luck. I'm might sell it at the gun show tomorrow.
Hmmmm, interesting, I have not seen the like of it before, I always thought the ordinary handle worked fine.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

It does, this is for people who think that using their left hand to cycle the bolt makes for a faster return to target after chambering a round. It can be done on the factory bolt, just easier with the upright one, Carolina Shooters carries on that just fastens onto the stock charging handle with a set screw, easy to return to factory if you don't like it, unlike this one. There's also several places modding the bolt and moving the handle completely to the left side and removing the original, which requires modding the receiver cover also. I think they are just over thinking things. To me, it's easier to change mags with my right hand, holding onto the forearm and tilting the rifle to the left. Then, since your right hand is there anyways, it doesn't take much to chamber a round and get your hand back on the pistol grip ready to go.
Ak bolts don't stick out that far. I don't really like the galil charge handle look. I like the traditional ak look myself.

The Galil type bolt handle would make it harder to recharge the rifle with the left hand using the tactical reload method. An interesting rifle, to say the least.
