Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, what ever. No one really know where these came from do they?
The ATI's have German proof marks, so they came through Germany.

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
Looking at pics of legit bases from around the web, the base on these (at least the one pictured) look too "new". I guess I'll just have to wait and see more of them.

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
Looking at my Rguns sniper I just bought,The base looks quite different,These look too new on these to be honest. My worst fear is that Molot assembled these out of original parts with a mix of repro bases as the base is the hardest original part to find,It would make sense they would need a supply of repro bases. I often read Talks.guns.ru (Big Russian gun forum) And the guys there send their standard mosins and ex snipers to Molot where Molot was making them into PU snipers for them,Even stamping scope numbers on the side to make them look authentic etc...
Thats just my observation. I hope AIM can get an expert in to look at these snipers ASAP to determine what they. I really would like to buy 1 if they are determined to be real.

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
Second item on the rifle is the serial number on the side of the barrel shank on a Tula.
That is not common at all and raises a red flag.
Molot has been faking Mosins for some time now.

Even if they wind up being repros with fake bases, the price isn't terrible at $579 if the scopes and such are real.

Here's a pic. for you!Izhevsk762 wrote:Can someone either PM me or post a pic of what a real base looks like? Everything else I'm seeing on these rifles looks fine, I just don't know what the base is supposed to look like.
It's now on my non import marked "44" Izhevsk that I am rescoping, pic.s coming soon.

Check this link out on this sniper from royal tiger: http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread. ... 943-sniper
That sniper looks identical to the ones AIM has. That one also looks legit, including the base. The only thing that looks slightly odd to me is the font and placement of the scope number on the barrel shank. Thoughts?

Thoughts??? I plan on getting me a Ruger American in .30-06 or .308 hopefully in the next few months... That will be my long-range sniper rifle & will double as a good hunting gun. The other $250 I would have spent on this PU will go to a Finn variant of some sort.Izhevsk762 wrote:Check this link out on this sniper from royal tiger: http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread. ... 943-sniper

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
Well the poster stated they have an InterOrdnace import stamp under the barrel on his rifle so that coupled with the fact this is a Molot rifle I'd say this is exactly what AIM is going to have. Bryan did say his were imported by IO. I still haven't seen anything to prove where they came from or if they're real yet. Erik just said they still haven't been able to go through theirs yet so the wait continues.Rongo wrote:Thoughts??? Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
Real or not I never got into the PU Sniper rifle. I prefer these as iron sights only & can't merit the cost a real one would set me back just to sit in my safe. I would however shoot the heck out of that Ruger.

Oh fart are you? Well, if that's the case you are probably too old and weak to shoot out a Mosin, a rifle designed to survive the handling of untrained Soviet conscript soldiers

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
we started going through them, only finding 43-44, More Izzys than Tula, some guns have the # on the barrel shank struck out and a new # above it meaning they changed scopes on it at Refurb, sent a bunch of pics to Vic and he liked what he saw. Some scopes or mounts have not been refinished and show some finish wear. Some have some dings in the wood.
hoping to get them up for sale tonight, @$579.95
