AIM PU Snipers First Look
AIM just sent out notification that the PU snipers they've been talking about since last year will be shipping soon. They claim in the listing "Not a Reproduction!". What do you guys think? At $579.95 if these are real that's a steal.

I leave it to the experts

How can you tell with one photo?
Trust AIM? I don't think so. They are the ones who started selling the fakes and worded so they confused new collectors.
When I get to see one, then maybe I can tell.
Also, they are sold out already. They couldn't have had many in stock!

They're not out of stock, they haven't started selling them yet. They have that notification like that so people can sign up to be notified when they do come in. I got the weekly emailer today and these were at the bottom saying they're coming soon and to sign up for the notification if you're interested in one. http://us4.campaign-archive1.com/?u=980 ... ebc2596dcedolk wrote:How can you tell with one photo?

Bryan told me about these last year around Christmas and I was skeptical about authenticity especially when he told me the price but he told me someone from gunboards or 54r.net, I don't remember was going to look at them before he bought them. I have an email into him about them again and asked specifically who authenticated them.

If it's the real deal I might have to get one.... But I'm willing to sit back & see.

Looks repro to me... But I'm no expert. The mount looks new.

I'm very very far from an expert so I really have no clue but then again that's why I posted this stuff. I'm looking for as much info. about these as I can find. Here's a post that was started about these a long time ago and Bryan's been updating them in it. http://www.ak47.net/forums/t_2_217/2112 ... tml&page=8Rongoman wrote:Looks repro to me... Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
I have never seen a base that smooth (and a few other details) without them being fakes. The question is, if one part is fake, the entire thing is probably fake.
My real concern here is, Is this company buying real parts and ex snipers and make them? The base is always the hardest part to buy (real) and that would answer the question why the base is not right looking.
I wish I had one in my hand to tell, but I don't. But I know one person who can answer this question and I will ask him shortly about them.
It is what I have always said, You may pay more for a RGUNS sniper, but it is a proven thing and will always be a know commodity. Especially for only a $220 difference.

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
Yeah but it doesn't sound like Sean or Vic actually saw them. Bryan told me the same thing earlier this year. He said he had someone that was going to authenticate them form the boards and he didn't want them if they weren't the real thing. Time will tell.Hlavinka wrote:Is Vic good enough?Junk Yard Dog wrote:I leave it to the experts

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
I wonder what is taking them so long to import them and get them here for sale?
Why so long? It usually does not take very long.
I'm hoping these are not "put togethers" like others have been in the past.
That base really bugs me. Well, cross your fingers.

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
Well as I stated I'm no expert but I am a skeptic by nature and I've read threads leading to other threads about these rifles on about 6 or 7 different forums and I'm still unconvinced. Why so cheap? That's the first thing that crosses my mind. These were imported through InterOrdnance the same as the Royal Tiger rifles. That's what Bryan said in a post on gunboards. Impact Guns has those for $499.99. http://www.impactguns.com/inter-ordnanc ... i0021.aspxdolk wrote:I wonder what is taking them so long to import them and get them here for sale?

Edit: Just reread this listing and this caught my attention. "Original 9130’s with sniper scope. The scope and mount is made in Eastern Europe by the original factories, to the original spec." That screams reproduction/made up sniper to me. Carefully worded but it sure looks to be a reproduction scope on a 91/30 from the way it's so carefully worded. I wonder if these rifles from AIM are the same thing? They do look different. The finish on the Impact Guns rifle looks like the flat minwax stuff I've seen on some of these coming up for sale now.

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
Can someone either PM me or post a pic of what a real base looks like? Everything else I'm seeing on these rifles looks fine, I just don't know what the base is supposed to look like.

Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
I have only one sight base for which to compare, but for the most part, the general knowledge/sentiment is that authentic snipers bases did not get fine finished machining or polishing. Milling arbor marks are more than evident on mine.

No words of wisdom come to mind at this time....
Re: AIM PU Snipers First Look
The word is (rumor for what it's worth) is that R-Guns is down to the last few and that means that matching is no longer an expectation. I can't seem to find any posts of anyone who got one recently from them?
