Do you guys beleive in love at first shot?

Post by travisgreyfox »

Took out shelly today (my new rguns sniper) I only had a chance to put about 10 rounds down range. The first 5 hit almost all touching from about 60 yards! Did not expect pretty much hunter rifle accuracy out of the ol' mosin. Which will be 70 years old next year. I havent had time to take any pics of her still but should have some up soon hopefully (boss got me on nights again)

I had one small problem with the mosin today though...The rounds kept getting stuck down in the magazine well. like the spring (little metal peice) was not strong enough or something to push the rounds up for the bolt to push them forward. Anyone else ever had this problem? If so what did you do? Can i just buy another spring thingy from somewhere?

Thanks, Travis

It sounds like a problem with the ejector/interrupter. Make sure all the gunk is cleaned out of that channel; this is a favorite place for dried cosmoline or other stuff to accumulate. The other issue might be the spring tension is weak on the same piece. Take the action out of the stock and make sure the little screw that holds the ejector is not loose or missing.

:vcool: :vcool: :vcool: I agree with tjt. I had the same problem this week with a 91/59 and i suspect the interuppter as the culprit. It is not working right and the bullet above the one that is getting stuck is causing the one below to catch in the magazine because of likely rim lock. At least that is what i am thinking on mine. :D

Yes it can happen, for me it was the pre 64 Model 94 Winchester, not a lever guy I picked up the rifle acquired as part of a trade, cycled a round thru it pointed it down range at an old can and watched the can fly through the air. Some rifles are keepers and you know it on the first shot.

you can rebend the spring in magazine to a lazy S to stop this. or find someone on here that was giving away/trading for new springs in pay it forward thread. i have some more stuff to put on pay it forward and am waiting for others to post stuff, especially if they got free stuff from me and others.
