FN Modelo 1935 Peruvian Mauser

Post by Ghost Rider »

I bought this Peruvian Mauser about a week ago. The previous owner refinished the stock and hand guard as well as some of the metal parts with varnish, and did a really bad job. So ive spent the last week stripping and refinishing the stock and hand guard, as well as removing the varnish from all of the metal parts. I then refinished the stock and hand guard with BLO

The rifle is also missing the front sight protector, cleaning rod, and hand guard screw that goes in front of the rear sight. After a lot of searching I found that parts for this rifle are just about impossible to find. I did find a front sight protector and that was it. I also found that a cleaning rod from a VZ24 is an exact replacement for this rifle, and I found a hand guard screw from another rifle that should work.

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

It was, but fortunately it wasn`t bad and I was able to restore it and find the few minor parts that I needed for it.

It was rebarreled in 30-06 which was common for a lot of these rifles, so the bore looks like new.
