My New 1943 Husqvarna M38(Rare item for it)

Post by OLD OUTLAW »

This one is new to me, but as close to new as any Mauser I will probably see again. It has all the proper stamps and numbers for an M38.
But this thing is almost unreal in condition. Most people looking at it in some store would swear it was brand new. When I spotted it on Gun Brokers, it had been up for I think 2 1/2 days. Min was $375.01. I looked and looked at that. Way low priced for a 1943 Husky in that condition.
Asked for more pics and had them in just a few minutes. BIN was only $450 for it. I slammed that BIN as fast as I possibly could. This is the second one from this seller. My first 1922 M96 and now his M38. I actually feel a bit guilty about that price. There were not very many of these made in 1943
and very few exist in this condition. Enjoy

A Range plate for this rifle is the rare one to find in a life time. But I did! Now she is as the day she was issued!!!
Now this one is 100% and perfect!! :hubba:

Thank you, I pretty much feel the same way. It's hard to imagine the heavy hitters didn't spot and jump on it before I saw it.

You bought it right. I can just imagine you taking 5 more minutes to mull it over, decide to get it and gone! You did good

Des, I'm actually still looking it over and cannot find any dings, dents, scratches. Just the four little tack holes where the M38 Range Plate was removed.
But, I happen to know who has a lot of original range plates he got from Kimber many years ago when they destroyed so very many of these fine rifles to re-manufacture their 6.5mm hunting rifles.

That is very nice. You are slowly cornering the market on the Swedes OO. 8-)
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Very good price, I remember when these were selling some 15 years ago, I don't recall the selling price for the high condition models, but it was probably close to what you paid. The guy may be setting his BIN price according to what he remembers paying when he bought them. :vcool: :vcool: :vcool:

I suspect you are about right. I feel his opening prices are what he most likely paid, and upped a bit for the BIN. And not much difference there.
But, he really should have started this one at $750 to $800 to even open an Auction. Based on the year and condition.

Keep an eye on him, maybe he bought a Garand or two back in 1990 :)

Yea right! I can't recall what it was.
But my old Military JYD south of here had those six and they were gone when I was down there last Saturday. They ran $800 to $1050. Really clean looking ones he bought from an elderly collector just wanting to get rid of them. But he had two carbines that he said were 100% Military. Some of the nicest and most pure as he put it, that he has ever seen. Wife was with me, she told old Gerald "Don't you dare show them to him or give him a price. He just bought two rifles and two more are on the way." Then told me, "If you want to cancel that new Swede that has not shipped, then you can look." Now JYD, I have survived long enough
to know this is the time for me to listen to her and shut up. I did and now with this one today, hell, I don't look back! :D :D :D :D

Steve, you weren't BS'ing me about that one, that one is a beauty. There is no little smiley for that other than :big shock: . The price is a kick in the pants to, last one I saw close to the condition of that one was pushing just over a grand, but like you stated in pristine shape they can get up there in price. What are you going to find next to top it, that will take some hunting.

Now tell the truth, your getting them smuggled into the country in a crate filled with Swedish meatballs, straight from the source, aren't you. :chuckles: :chuckles:

I know were to find a 76 year old retired Swedish IBM computer tech named Lars who as a boy in Sweden practiced shooting with the Swedish Mauser in the event the Red's invaded Sweden. He is usually slightly inebriated from cooking up some hugely alcoholic Swedish booze made from fermented raisins, and he eats his weight daily, we can ship him to you parcel post :) The ultimate Mauser accessory, the original shooter.

Not to worry Carl. Lets just say I now have some friendly sellers. And one of them has two of the nicest and absolutely authentic M41 Snipers ya
ever laid eyes on. Comes with all the goodies. Work in progress. He just isn't quite ready to sell one yet. In due time I guess.
