My 43 Tula, the tang has a 4 on it I can't make out anything else as of yet.
I've learned to add the pictures first then I won't sound like I r such a HUGE ideeit.
The machining on Tula is leaps and bounds ahead of Izhevsk, if you own a Izhevsk PU I'm sure you will see that in these photos. At least my Izhevsk is rough in the recv'r.
This is really a good representation of both rifles, the grinding on the recv'r of the 44 isn't as rough though. This 43 Tula has a new barrel, it's a few thousandths longer than the 44. Both barrel ave been crowned just like my other PUs. The barrel witness strikes don't match on the recv'r to barrel the front sight base is WAY off to the left We'll see if this presents a challenge at the range. Ivan and his potato mash
Both scopes have the stop rings removed this one is the older of the two and has no refurb marks on it. The actions on the rifles are as smooth as glass, the bolts just glide through the recv'r the locks are very positive in both directions and the cocking action on the lift is lighter than usual on both rifles.
These are basically new rifles that, I believe were issued to the East German Polizie to knock defectors off the fence as they tried to go west. After the final refurb I don't think they saw much action although the 44 Tula had no cosmoline on it, and had powder on the bolt face and it smelled pretty fresh.
I think the Germans may have done some work to these after they got them, although it's just conjecture. I would like to see a 43 44 Izhevsk from ATI and see if the machining is any better. The cocking knobs are re machined along the cam guide, they no longer touch at all and the distance is the same along the mill. The handles are WAY smoother than my Rgun 44 Izhevsk. These are nice looking handles compared to my Rgun44. I wonder if time constraints were the problem??
My 43 Tula Ex has an Izhevsk cocking knob and it is not machined in the same way, it's just not even. I can't call it an Izhevsk thing yet. Range report as soon as I can get them out .
I was looking at my 43 ex the other day saw a light frost in the bore, rifling perfect. That's why it was decommissioned. Isn't there some kind of bore cleaner and a 'cleaning round' that might take that out?
I do pretty good there, I don't have to type
