Question about Yugo FP retaining pin

Post by polymerase2 »

Took the Yugo apart and gave it a good cleaning. the FP retaining bolt was peened just like the last one by the firing pin. I suspect the backwards recoil spring may be a part of it. Anyway, I going to put in a new retaining pin. Does it need to be flush with the bolt or just be lower than the extractor? I have Dremeled a new pin to fit (not the shaft, just the D shaped part) and it almost goes all the way in. I have looked at several images online and that seems the be OK. I am trying to find a link I saw in the past where someone showed how to modify a regular retaining pin to fit a Yugo bolt. When you order a Yugo retainer it has the same order number as all of the others.
