1944 Winchester M1 Garand

Post by Jumperwire »

I won this on an auction last week. It's an M1 Garand made by Winchester. I am still learning everything about these, but with a few books a whole lot of help from Sgt. Rob whom I owe a great deal to.  and maybe a whole lot more, I found one that suited what I wanted and picked his brain for everything I could think of. To start off, It's a WWII receiver w/ 1950's parts. Most likely an arsenal maintained rifle. There are a lot of USGI parts, by the pictures that were posted on the auction, but now the fun begins.
So here she is, before I tear her down and try and figure out how to put it back together again. :vconfused: :vconfused:

OK, here's the deal Jump. You already have all the Finns you don't shoot so I vote you sell them off and invest in USGI milsurps. So you don't get in trouble with Uncle Sam for unjust inrichment and have to go into a new HIGHER tax bracket...I'll take the pick of the litter of the Finns for just what you paid for them. I'm sure Bunkysdad will help me out with your new hobby. No thanks is needed.

Beautiful seeing Winchester on that receiver, that's a really nice rifle posted :Drool1: there.

Am I that obvious? But yes I do want to join up with LC44 and help you out. Anything for a friend!
Oh man you found the perfect Garand. I have said for several years the a Garand should be about a grand, so all I need is a grand and I'll get me a Garand too.

Glad she finnally got to you Jumperwire! She looks alot better in your pictures as well. Looking forward to a range report!

Given the current prices on these, Jumperwire did really well with this one as it was a Winchester USGI mixmaster at what Springfield USGI mixmasters are normally selling at outside the CMP. This one is a true been there done that rifle with most likely seeing service in WWII and Korea. This type of M1 is my favorite. And I am glad I could help!
