Bought this off some old Greek guy in Vegas. He was going to sell me this and a French '56 MAS for 800 bucks. The MAS was converted to a 308, cool gun, but.. I acted dumb and handed the guy 400 bucks for the SVT and he took it  Most of the numbers match except the bolt, hardly any do anyway. There is a white bolt with an original bayonet in Vegas. It last went for 900 bucks, I just bought 8 rifles the day before..
Shoots just like it looks. And, no. I cannot see some peasant talking this thing down and getting it to work again. I think that is one of the reasons it never was a real front line rifle. Too damn finicky, to many parts to loose. Germans sure liked them when they figured out that the 98 was not gonna when the war. If that STG44 came in earlier the whole damn thing coulda been different. We would be called "Das screwed"
This one strings vertical, I've gotten used to it.
There is a picture of that female Lydia sniper holding one, it was propaganda. She went right back to her PU.

Some old Greek guy in Vegas? Was this deal done in the back room of some nightclub, or speakeasy? Good price for one, these days everyone thinks they are made of solid gold when they go to sell them.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

You just never know what will happen at any time or at any place in vegas. I bought a 70 camaro 4spd for like a $100 and the deal was wrote on a napkin while we were having drinks at The "office". I have got a ton of stuff there. Greeks are the good guys to deal with. Nice SVT Mantis. :vcool: :vcool: :vcool: :Drool1:
Pac that was fast, its just been a day or so. :beek:

Whoa, I guess it is true, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas

Very nice SVT, $400 definitely cant beat the price.
I don't shoot mine much, it is fun, but takes a while to clean with the little pieces and parts.

A classic case of being in the right place at the right time. Very nice.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Go south on tropicana and turn right on eastern, 4th street in the left across from the airport.
