Surplus Nagant ammo

Post by BuckeyeSgt »

Aim has some now less than $5 for 14 rounds. Shipping was $11. Seemed like a pretty good deal for some hard to find ammo. Starting to see it more now.

I should probably get some of that, but I rarely shoot the Nagant revolver.

Remember if it's Milsurp it's corrosive. I bought some awhile back just to collect to go with the Nagant. For shooting I bought Privi Partizan. A little less worry (cleaning) that way and not that much difference in the price per round.

I do the same. Buy a few boxes to collect and shoot off a few here and there, but I mostly stick to commercial loads...as anemic as they are

This is a pretty rare chance to get the real deal. I might get some then get the revolver.

You can try J&G also. I drove up to their retail store a couple weeks ago. My buddy left with a 91/30 and Nagant revolver and they had a bunch of the surplus 7.62nagant 14rd boxes for $4.90

Always consider any surplus ammo to be corrosive and clean accordingly after shooting and you will never be surprised with a orange bore.

Orange bore would be a surprise since I've never seen it. Is it like the orange dust we used to see under old style points distributors, sort of like some kind of rust? Ozone o3 Sounds bad.

I put in another order and it shipped today. Not sure how long it will hold out. Figured worse case I can shoot it up. Or if no more is around I can add to the price of the revolver if I ever get tired of it.

Anything orange on a firearms metal, inside or out indicates active rust.

Orange is not a naturally occurring color in the firearms spectrum. :big shock:

Everything should be Blue steel and natural wood. Parkerized is OK too Maybe stainless, tennifer (Glock grey) or the "black" finishes of the AR'S but no colors
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

I'm waiting for 32 S&W Long to come back in stock & order both that & the Nagant surplus to save on shipping. I'm thinking I might have to hurry & scratch that idea.

If you can get the cartridge in the chamber, it will probably fire. It might only fire ONCE, but you can usually get it to fire. :big shock:
