This picture is from an M39 rifle I have just agreed to purchase.
The rifle itself is clearly a SAKO with an early tang date (1906 Tula). Ok, my research to date indicates that this colour is from nickel and is found most times in bbls manufactured with high nickel content (Belgium and Sweeden come to mind).
In M39's, is this colour common, uncommon or normal. Thanks. Jim.

First off....DAMN JIM Where did you find this one? You are going to set some buying records. OK now on to the plum. I just love the plum barrels. I always thought they were on the B barrels. My B does have some plum spots but i have seen some all plum and they are gorgeous. I think JYD has one. Not a great number have them all plum bit there are some out there. I don't think i have seen a sako plum though. Nice gun Jim

Nice I would love a Plum M91. I have read somewhere that it was something to do with the metal. I also remember reading somewhere maybe they might have sent the metal for the B barrels. I am not sure though and maybe Homer or Hexnut know that answer.

Wow Topper I really hope you get this one. Belgium sounds right I think on the plum barrels. I doubt that JYD has one. He barely has any m39's, barely even has any Mosins, except for a few pieces of scrap he picked up at the flea market! Ha
Feral if you have a plum m91 please post lots of pictures. I have never seen such a great sounding thing.
Can;t pop the Champaign quite yet......waiting on the seller to confirm payment today, but he has agreed to sell at my price.........A couple of other pictures.......its going to be a log wait for this one, I'm dying to see it in person. I wasn't going to buy any more BUT..... It does have a 'ding' a spectacular one on the stock but I kinda over look that......well I'll try anyway. This really IS a sickness......

I just noticed it is a 42 also. I wonder if there are other plum years? I can't tell on that sako but it looks like a 44.

If we're talking about the SAKO, its a 1941 on a 1906 Tula........
I'm still awaiting final confirmation on acceptance and our agreement (via email) of the cash offer.......(if my wife finds about this I am a dead man) (and....I still have the high bid on the B bbl M39 to go!!!!!....) If I win that too I am in deep doo-doo........my ebay sales (little sideline) are ok but NOTHING to make up this expenditure.....THIS IS SICK!!!!

What a buddy!!!! I was considering asking you to drive over to the seller of the "B" bbl, in Seattle and then driving the rifles out to me here in MA. It would save me $30.00 in shipping costs and you would see some nice country on the ride here .......I mean really, whats a little road trip between buddies?
Hey, I would "B" glad to go get it for ya. I would have to examine it and maybe test it to make sure it meets your standards though. Of course that could take any amount of time...maybe a year or 3?
