Re: Stripper Clips
I've got a few. In some rifles they work slick especially my M91 1919 Tula.
Others, however, seem to be problematic to load with them especially my WW2 produced M91/30. I beleive mine are Romanian maybe the stamp favors the Izhevsk triangle.

Re: Stripper Clips
Back then they were taking the time to fit them to the individual rifle. If you look at the newer ones, especially with WWII production parts, you'll see they're not fit, or not fit well. This is like expecting a 1911 to function without fitting! The Feral Machinist wrote:I've got a few. The cheap stripper clips can be made to work:
If you feel comfortable with fitting an interrupter (it doesn't have to be the original!), you'll get something like this:
That last one works just about as well as any Mauser I've tried. My mistake in getting a perfect feed was pushing too far forward on the cases. It's good to know it works with a less-than-perfect press, though!

Josh

That's what I did the first time I saw it. I didn't come up with it and I can never remember for sure who did. I think it was SBKittrell. Glad to see I'm not the only one this had in stitches. Re: Stripper Clips
I ordered 10 repop ones on ebay and they came today, the couple that I tried seem to work fine in my Romanian M44, the edges are a little rough though so I might touch them up with sand paper.

There used to be a seller on eBay called uglycarfan who sold brass clips everyone said worked well. I have no idea if he is still at it.

Exactly.BostonMike wrote:Once you learn the trick. It's pretty easy to load. Slide the clip into the receiver slot, grab the top round and tilt the rim side down and push down. The rounds fall right in.
I keep some in my ammo can. Come in handy when you want to bang off 20-25 rounds really fast

I have 30+ most are Izhevsk & a few of those that were passed off as being Finn. I load them all up, pack them in my range can & enjoy. The only way to go for loading a Mosin.... I never load individual rounds.

Re: Stripper Clips
If your a mosin fan, then it's totally worth it to pick up a few. they you can get them 5 for $5, or 10 for $10 on ebay, so their pretty cheap. (those are after market,. and are fun just to mess around with them) a few minuets of youtube, and you'll be a master.

Re: Stripper Clips
The Izhevsk clips I bought 20 years ago still work great, they are getting a little worn now, but that has no effect on function. They are the only Mosin clips I have used that work to any degree at all.

Re: Stripper Clips
I have ten stripper clips the reason I use them is to ration my ammo. If I dont use the clips I will run through a whole spam can at the range in a few hours. :/ With the clips I only use 100 or so.

Re: Stripper Clips
I kind of thought I would like some BUT after reading most of these reviews - I think I'll stick to hand loads!!! Have very few problems as long as I set them in and slide them back against the stop!!!

Re: Stripper Clips
Ha! I found this out the hard way. When I only had the Polish M44 it came with no accessories so I was ordering stuff from CL at Liberty Tree and ordered a sling and cleaning kit. It's supposed to be Polish stuff but I'm not sure. Doesn't really matter right now, I'm not an accessoryphile yet. I don't remember if I got the ammo pouch but I don't think I did. Just a canvas tool pouch and a nice sling that has a lighter green color than any of the others I have now. Well now after buying 2 more M44s and 13 M91/30s I have accessories coming out of the woodwork. I have a PA120 ammo can full of ammo pouches with the tools in each of them and need to start a new one. I have 13 Bayonets in three gunrack boxes. It's a perfect fit for those. I have them oiled down, most still in comoline. I know what you meant when you said you have a box of bayonets Jim. I'm working on it. When I first saw you say that a while back it made me think "man he must have a bunch of rifles". Now I'm doing the same thing. ;)Junk Yard Dog wrote:Once you have more than five refurbished Mosins you end up being an accessory collector no matter if you set out to be or notkermit wrote:i just realized i have 109 genuine non repro stripper clips. i guess JYD was correct when he said "accessory collector"

Re: Stripper Clips
I have a M91/30 from each arsenal, Tula, and Izhevsk from 1928-1944 , I didn't bother with 1941 Tula. There are extra 91/30's for MO, DDR, ex sniper, most of the 20's ex dragoon rifles and so on. Most of these came with accessories, even some of the Finn ones, I have enough ammo pouches that they fill a large trash bag.
