This is an M91/30 1941 Izhevsk Round Receiver I got from Widener's. I was already buying some Mausers and an SKS and needed one more rifle to make it an even 8 on this order coming into my FFL. He charges $20 per transfer which includes up to 4 rifles because the form allows 4 per sheet. If he has to fill out another sheet he charges another $20. So I figured since I was already paying $40 to transfer 7 rifles I might as well make it an even 8. That and these come with matching bayonets. I have 13 M91/30s and not one with a matching bayonet until now. I know they're not truely matching but this one is stamped at least and looks pretty close. Might actually be the issued one for the rifle. I don't know you decide. It looks like the mag floor plate is restamped but all in all it's a nice rifle. Good strong rifling and is shiny in the bore with strong lands and groves and not counterbored. It has brass end caps in a postwar stock that I particularly like because it's a bit darker than most of my other ones. It was $99.00 and the shipping was $11.06 and $5.00 for the transfer when I split it between all of the rifles. Grand total is $115.06 for this one.

"41 Izhevsk with a low wall receiver, cool, early 1941, I like the reasoning behind the adding the 8th rifle It's always nice to roun....is that a real turkey in the last pic?
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Love it. That deep red color is awesome, especially with those brass end caps. My PU has the same set up, with makes me thing "why have something shiny on a sniper rifle? But I think the color on yours is far better than mine. Great looking rifle.
That's the second turkey I seen today. I saw one on the side of the road, I swear was almost 4 ft tall I was doing 65MPH, but he was tall.

Yes it is Jim. Want him? He's a pain in the arse. He's my buddy but he's gets on my nerves. I have four of them actually. Two toms and two hens. The toms are both pains. I have to put them up after a while because the follow me around and report on any sound I make that's a certain tone. They gobble contantly. That one in the picture is Lucky. He's lucky because he's the only one that hatched out of 8 eggs.
You ate the other seven eggs didn't you I have wild turkeys, I am pretty sure I heard one of them not far off in the woods when I came home tonight, gobbling away. They are skinny dark things, not like yours.

I really like that rifle, but they sure did put an ugly import stamp on it. Did they make it big enough? I have one about that big on a M44 from R Guns. Looks like it will take some cosmo clean up before even thinking about firing.
I'm just curious and don't want to get into your business, but are you selling all these rifles or just adding them to your collection? If you want to tell me it is none of business, I won't be hurt. I think if I had a FFL, I would collect some of the nicest ones and hold them (you know the prices are going to go up sometime in the future) and sell some.

Heh, it's the 5th one I've seen today. 4 that are mine and I have a wild hen up here today. They're cutting hay around me at the moment and we've had a bunch of them around here. My buddy saw a huge tom and 4 hens in the back field two weeks ago. This is where the cutting hay comes in. They like to nest at the edge of woods and overgrown fence lines which we have a lot of here. This place was a 180 acre dairy farm at one time and most of the fences have all kinds of crap growing around them now. Well my neighbors across the road cut the fields behind me and we were talking last night about Turkeys and my neighbors brother who ran the cutter a few days ago told me he saw a nest over at the other side of the field. I asked if he saw the hen and he said he saw one heading out away from him towards the woods. I went to look for the nest and found it. 7 eggs in it and they were cold. I figure she's either building the nest, as in filling it before she sets or she's abandoned it because now the field is cut and she's only a foot and a half into the brush. Well I took all of the eggs and replaced them with eggs from my turkey hens. Then I put those eggs into one of my nest boxes and showed my mother turkey where they were. She got right on them. I figured I'd take a chance. The eggs were most likely abandoned and are not viable. The eggs I put in the nest from my hens are from this week but I had them in the fridge and had no plans to hatch them.
They were going to be breakfast. My one Turkey hen is still laying and has a nest below my lower garden above the pond and I go every day and take the eggs. I can't let her set there becaue the Coyotes or Foxes would kill her at night. All of my animals are trained and go in at night and roost in locked completely enclosed pens. That is except the occasional hen that escapes my watchful eye and decides to stay out and nest in the bushes. Anyway the other Turkey hen is nesting but she's stopped laying eggs and is setting on the chickens eggs that get layed everyday. That is until I take them and kick her and about 5 other hens off the nests. I don't want anymore birds this year. I have roughly 60 birds here. Ok back to the wild eggs. I decided that if this hen of mine wants to set on a nest in the hen house I'd let her and will do it with these eggs. That brings me to the wild hen I saw today. She came up behind the one building I have on the other side of the yard and I was kind of surprised to see her this close to the house. Just before she came up here one of the tractors had passed a place she may have a new nest but I'll have to check. I marked the eggs I put in her nest and will check it. If there's new eggs I'll take them and put them under my hen and replace them with good eggs from my hens that I'm now saving out of the fridge just for this reason. The turkey's that are here are introduced. They were let loose here about ten years ago, two truckloads of them. I'm surprised they even survive with all the dogs people have, the hunting, the preditors and the fireants but they do. I saw a mother with over a dozen chicks last year in the field behind me. We'll see if my little experiment works. If it does it'll introduce some new blood into the local population if they survive and it'll sure surprise a few hunters to see white and black turkeys. If they do survive it won't be long before they revert to ferel but it should be interesting.

Heh, trust me he's in no way tasty. That guy is about 3 or 4 years old now and is so tough it'd pull your teeth out trying to chew him. I only keep him around because he makes me laugh and he lets me pick him up. We had one of his sons for Thanksgiving and after about 2 years old they get real tough. The first year they are some good though, ;)

Nope I wouldn't even chance it. I have no idea how long those eggs have been there. Besides I have a dozen or more from my girls. That and about 10 dozen chicken eggs. Nope those eggs are out there under my Turkey as we speak.
Well, good luck with them , I had chickens when I was a kid, fresh eggs is good eating

Yeah they do put some huge banners on them now don't they? The first two or three pictures were as I was cleaning it. The rest are after it was cleaned. It's ready to shoot. As for selling these, no I collect them. I can't see ever selling them unless I get real real desperate for money. I've only ever sold two rifles and they were a pair of Rem. 22lrs I had new in the box and really didn't like after I shoot one of them. One had never been shot. I sold those to a gunstore so they were transfered out of my name. I've had 3 guns stolen over the last 32 years, other than that I still own every firearm I've ever bought.

Absolutely, nothing beats a fresh yard bird egg. I have Guineakeets too. Those are some real good eating. The yolks are just about red they're so rich. I also have Bobwhite quail and Chinese Pheasant.

mogunner wrote:So...why spend $160 on transfer fees when a C&R ffl is only $30 for three years? Man, that was another Mosin right there!
Well actually Bruce it was $120 for 18 rifles and I don't have the threat of the ATF crawling my place asking to inspect my log book even with the chance run in at the FFL. Everything I have is legal mind you, it's just the principle of it . This started in Nov. on Black Friday. I really hadn't been thinking about buying any rifles online but a deal came up I couldn't pass up so I bought 6 rifles. Then another sale and 4 more. Then I decided I was going to get the remaining rifles I wanted all at once and that's it for a while. I didn't feel like going through all the crap you have to to get a C&R and my buying is done for a long while. I have 18 rifles to play with now to go with the 16 I already had and they'll keep me busy for a long time. Hell I'm still unpacking and cleaning them. I had to order 3 new wall racks. I know what some of you are saying "Yeah he's not going to buy anymore" "Yeah right , when pigs fly" Well the reality is I'm unemployed, living off of savings and pushed it buying these but now I'm happy. Once I can get some money coming in I might start looking but with no money you can't buy so I'm done for now. Yeah I would have saved $90 less the $30 it costs for the C&R but I also wouldn't have been able to buy most of what I have right now waiting for it to come.
