I have never seen one in the wild but iwould think it would start in the $200 range and go up from there. It may depend on what he donor rifle was. A sestroryetsk or a chatterault (sp) would probably be much higher. Anything under $250 is probly an instant buy. :D

+1 on Desdem's estimates. I have not purchased one yet. I have seen a few lately that were built from 1943 Izhevsk rifles and that is probably what didn't get me interested as much as an older/less common version would have. I believe the really rare ones are Chattelerault, Sestroyetsk, Remington and NEW.

it is made from a Izhevsk Dragoon era 1903 rifle. the numbers do not match though.

Sounds like a buy it now one to me. I am not sure on the matching numbers on these. I have a 91/59 and it is not matching but i have seen matching ones. I have no idea if these are supposed to match but i doubt it. That would not be a deal breaker for me anyway. :D How much is it?

Yeah how much? There is no set price. Is it in your budget? And the big question: do you love the gun?

closer to $300 plus.

They are harder to find and that makes them a little pricy. But it really depends on what they were made from also (and condition). If it were a early Sestroryetsk then......wow it goes up.

I found one late last year at a gun show. It is an arsenal refurb Izhevsk 1944r (round) with all matching numbers, nice stock. Only negative was it was counterbore, but that seems to common on a lot of carbines including my two M44. The guy wanted 180 for it; I jumped on it.

I have an 1897 dated Imperial Tula 91/38 that I bought for a song! Guy didn't know what he had. Got 3 440 round cans of ammo with it too! Carbine is in 95% condition bluing is beautiful, the bore is the best I've seen from a Mosin-Nagant if any year. Shiny with strong lands and grooves. No counterbore. This carbine will shoot rested with my buddies hand loads 1.5inches at 100yards! The stock does not have the M44 notch for the bayonet like many do. No import marks either. The only two non matching parts are the bolt (force matched) and the magazine body, later Ishvesk. I would not get rid of this rifle. But if I had to I would be no less than $500 maybe more! I look and hold this fine 115 year old workhorse and have to think where it's been? Who's used it? History fellas, history!

A 91/59 will set you back over $200 these days, there were fewer 91/38's, a nice example would probably go a bit higher than $300 but not by much. You might get lucky and find someone who thinks it's just another M38 and sell it on the cheap, it happens with these rifles outside of Mosin collector circles among people who might only know the basic Mosin variations.

They don't know for positive, but there are signs on it that Czechoslovakia made them.

Best article on them and most accurate. http://www.mosinnagant.net/global%20mos ... arbine.asp

Very nice, unscrubbed markings and a lucky 7 on the barrel :)
