1941 91/30

Post by SA1911a1 »

I have been casually looking for a '41 Izhevsk 91/30 and can't seem to locate one. I would have thought they would be as plentiful as 42s and 43s. Is there something I am missing?

I've got a 1941 Izhevsk 91/30 on a Hex receiver. The exterior of the barrel looks like it could be played in a record player. I'll have to get a pic of it up later. Fun rifle to shoot.

It seems everyone has that elusive rifle. Maybe stop looking & it will pop up when you least expect it to. ;)

For me it's that 47' Izhevsk M44. When I do find them... There's a reason for not buying... Either too expensive, or the stock was refinished or it was redone in some other way. I'm watching one on GB right now... But he want's too much.

Well I can assure you that NOT everyone has one! I sure would like one too. It seems like it would be reasonable to call and ask if some of the online guys selling right now could pick you one for a hand select fee.(assuming they can find one). Jim, I love the Finn and the M38 you showed there. Ron you found a nice refurb there too.

Ron, there are two up, in case you missed the second one. It seems to be involved in a shoot-out and may end up going for the same price as the Soverign gun.

Too late..

Just won another 43' Izhevsk M44 on auction at GB. I can't believe no one else bid... Got it for the opening bid for way less than those 47's are going for. I might try the distributors in another week or so... I have some overtime coming & it's getting spent on toys. 8-)

Otherwise I'll wait till the big fall gunshow at the Coliseum end of October. I found a real mint one there 2 years ago for well under $200 except for the refinished stock. That was a deal breaker.

I just picked up a Finn'd '41 Izhevsk 91/30 from a pawn shop for $80. Bore was a mess, but it cleaned up and is a really great shooter.

Does it have sling rings like mine Homer, or the original slots? Did they alter the stock finish from the Soviet shellac to the dark oil type ? Pics, Pics :)

Here's a few pics of my 1941 Izhevsk. A lil late but better than never. I bought this a while back, the deciding factor was the hex receiver on a 1941 date, its one of my favorite rifles.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Target, that is a nice looking rile. I wonder what the story is on that hex receiver?
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!
