AIM has some Chinese Mosins
Are these good rifles?
I know nothing about them, other than what I read at the AIM website.

Re: AIM has some Chinese Mosins
I've been thinking about one, but they just don't look very good. I think I might be disappointed because of the condition of the gun (stated as "Fair to Good" in AIM's online ad). I really have been spoiled by the last two Russian arsenal refurb M91/30s which are so clean and nice, it is almost like owning new guns. I know the Chinese did not do any refurbishment with these weapons. Most of them just look beat up.
Re: AIM has some Chinese Mosins
The Chinese Mosin Nagant is exactly the same gun as the Russian M-1944. (probably made on the same machines)
Since they were not refurbed you may get a great one or a lousy one. They are best picked in person so that you can verify the condion of the bore.
Expect the stock to be banged up to some degree and don't expect to get matching serial numbers.
I have bought 6 in the last year. Five of the 6 were fine after a lot of cleaning, the 6th one had no rifleing left and I sold it for parts.

Good advice, especially for a 'newbe' like myself. The idea of picking oe up for parts does make sense, thanks, I'll keep that in mind as I go forward with my "new" hobby. Jim.

Ya Jim, After you have about 20 or 30 like SA does, you need a few parts every now and then
If you are looking for a T 53 you can call them up and talk to them about the bore condition. That is what i would do if i was to order one. There are a couple of places to get them i think.

As mentioned, there are quite a few rough ones turning up. Something I would rather purchase in person, but then again none have shown up locally around here either. Good Luck!

You will be happy and sorry for that C&R Jim.
It takes about a month to get it here. Some guys it took almost 3 months. If you are looking for Polish M44s they are more expensive usually then the russian counterparts. If it is nice looking and under $250 then you might go for it. If it is under $200 then i would do it. If it is Hungarian, Those were used and could be rode hard. There are a few nicer ones out there but all in all i would pay less for a Hun then a POLE. Of course i say this as i have seen alot of huns out my way. Watch out for barrel condition on all M44s of the non russian type (especially T53). Russians may have bad bores also but later non war years are not in bad shape mostly.

Re: AIM has some Chinese Mosins
If you are a gambler you can call Omega Weapons Systems. Omega does not show them on the web site, so you do have to call to see if they still have the $79.00 T-53s. The seller won't even discuss looking down the bore, or selecting a nice stock, so don't even bother asking. I bought 4 from him and got three decent guns, the forth was the parts gun I mentioned above. You can't hardly lose on them because at $79.00, you can ebay the parts for a profit.

Re: AIM has some Chinese Mosins
In my opinion you should not try to compare these to Russian refurbs. You should not expect it to look great, our have a new bore. Think of rode hard and hung up wet. That is the most common conditions that these come from. We are not taking about brand new hunting rifles from the sporting goods store. We also aren't talking about 600.00 firearms here. Chinese T53- why would you expect anything more than a rough old relic from wet crappy conditions like Vietnam jungles. They are what they are- military surplus. If you get a unusually clean one, then you post it here for a bunch if us here to tell you how cool it is, and if you get a normal one you do the same thing. Clean, new looking, pristine, mint bore, heavily used war relic that had a lifetime of corrosive ammo fired through it. What in this sentence don't belong? Good luck deciding. (if you want to buy one)
Personally I'd go for it!

Wow. I read that twice & I'm still undecided about what it means.bunkysdad wrote:In my opinion you should not try to compare these to Russian refurbs. Re: AIM has some Chinese Mosins
What it means is, If you are expecting clean mint non used guns don't buy a milsurp especialy a T53.
But i f you are looking for a used gun with lots of history then these are right up your alley. They look used and were used and not refurbed. They were shot with corrosive ammo in a jungle so some have suspect bores. ....i think

According to those who seem to know, its best to buy 3 or 4, one will be a good shooter and the rest will help balance out a collection!

I like the previous comment about unrealistic expectations. I don't even need a shooter; I have seven of those. Maybe I will buy one just to have a Chinese T-53. Who knows? Maybe it was used by a VC somewhere in the Mekong Delta or elsewhere in Vietnam and has some history behind it. We'll never know for sure.Sgt.
