1935 Tula Hex CN marked

Post by jloop10 »

Just got back from the local gun show and picked up this beauty...So excited, my first Hex..

1935 Tula Hex CN marked
Strong rifling
bright bore
Not counter-bored
Matching serials

$125 out the door with little to no cosmoline to clean off!!

Would this be considered an ex-sniper?
I didnt see an filled holes then again I havent taken it apart yet..my understanding the holes sometimes show right below the wood line...

Nice Gun and welcome to the forum. It is likely a PE sniper and you may find the holes under the wood. :D

Look for faint welded over holes on the front of the receiver near the barrel. I also have a '35 Tula ex sniper, and there is at least one other on the board that year. Welcome to the forum :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Nice find. I have a '37 with the C N stamps. I didn't even notice them until someone here on the forum did and then I found some faint weld marks at the mouth of the receiver at the chamber.

Probable it is not a PE/PEM sniper with the side rail mount where the screws can be seen plugged with the bolt pulled back.

Probably a PEM top mount sniper like this

Image

This type of mount when welded up is harder to find and like JYD says, is just behind where the barrel screws to the reciever. 3 holes on each side plugged up and ground off and hard to find. Not visable from inside (unless you can crawl in there!).

That is an exceptionally nice first Hex! Thanks for posting up the pics, and when you get her apart, post some more of the sides of the receiver and the tang date!

If it's anything like mine the welds when ground down look like pin holes in the metal.
