No problem, the check cleared
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Simonov was a Mosin dude, too. But his most notable contribution to small arms was the SKS. Bet he never imagined what would become of his efforts. He has his own dedicated forum on RMNF, now. Awesome!
No words of wisdom come to mind at this time....

I could see how collecting SKS's could be addicting. It is one of the last semi-auto battle rifles and is still reasonable, at least so far. I do wish I had bought a Russian when I first got interested. I was shocked by $400. I still enjoy my Yugo, and it was a good entry. If I find a good SKS at a good price it will come home with me.

There are a few deals even on Russians out there. Not a lot at the moment, but a few and more will be over time. Just keep watching and looking .

Just this past weekend I was disassembling my 2nd SKS, a 59/66a1 and as I was laying out the pieces for cleaning, I was admiring the mechanics of the gas system, and the cutoff for firing blanks for the grenade system. I just suddenly stopped and said to myself: "I know why these guys love these so much. I get it. I really get it!" I have always liked them better than the AK platform, not that I don't love AK's. I do. I just dont have one. I just ready love the SKS. I can't understand why anyone would not want one, especially if fun shooting is to be had. :)

Your second one is built like a tank isn't it? An all milled one at that. My wife for the first time ever wanted to learn to shoot one of my SKS last Saturday.
After 20 rounds on the 25 yd target lane, I moved her over to a 50 yard lane. She shot about 60 rounds at the 50. All groups were 2 to 3".
She made an Executive decision and confiscated my M59! A 61 year old woman who seems a natural at shooting takes the M59 and then had me buy her an
M38 Swedish Mauser Saturday night. Life is good. More access to gun money!
