Re: 55-56 tula sks
I can't speak as to overall rarity, but any Russian Type 45 SKS that is number matching for the price of $280 is rare enough it's self. Do the numbers on the stock match or is there a set that is XXX'ed out?
Most refurbs have the stamp on the cover, and they commonly have a black bolt.

dou, do you remember the letter after the S/N? Get detailed pics after you buy that rifle. For $280 and in that condition you simply cannot go wrong.
That is far cheaper than a Chinese in the same condition. Look at Boomers GB report for average selling price of a Russian last month on GB. Black or
not. Buy it and never look back. It has been rebuilt at an arsenal as good as new. You can shoot it and never ever have to worry about it
decreasing in value. Like Greasemonkey said, that price is what is rare about it!

Even if its nothing more than a shooter, you can't get a better one for that price. Just for reference, there's one here in Omaha that I'd guess it to be very similar to what you're looking at. They have $379 on the tag.

i almost bought it today but i could not get back to the store in time after i went to the bank . i was not sure if the russians used many laminated stocks brcause i had not saw ome before, told the wife i might be buying more guns for my retirement plan.he also has a 147 code k98 that i am looking at that is mm but not an rc .it has a lot of wear but still in good shape and i think i could make some money off of it if it does not sell.
Re: 55-56 tula sks
I was in Photobucket with some other photos when I saw your post, so I grabbed one of my '53 Russian in laminate for you

Re: 55-56 tula sks
The early 55 Tula guns are dated top covers If original not rebuilt wood be in hardwood stock with tula star and date on stock
late 55 may have a star with no date on top cover, kind of rare
56 Tula would have the laminated stock in original issue condition no star on stock just serial number Thjey dropped the star and date on stock in early 55 same time star on receiver showed up.
Laminated stocks with single bolt were early replacements ones with double reinf bolt were late Many 51 guns are found with laminated stocks
1952 blued examples are hard to find in original not rebuilt condition
1955 dated guns are hard to find
and of course the lucky guys in Canada are getting the supply of original 49 guns up there with triangle bayonets and original parts.

Re: 55-56 tula sks

Re: 55-56 tula sks
Thanks Steve. Its one of the focal pieces in my small but growing collection. I haven't shot it yet but I have bought several rounds of ammo for it. I am thinking I will hold off firing it until it gets a chance to get over to eastern Iowa.OLD OUTLAW wrote:Wolfy, have you even shot that beauty yet? It's almost too good looking to shoot!
