For now buy what you need & want & don't let the market buzz make your decisions for you. There's only a few more 91/30's I want & then I'll be done. Soon I plan on focusing on U.S. Made Milsurps to round out the collection.

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
Hey you guys. I forgot all about this thing. It's the way back machine and is basically a snapshot of websites as they were at any given date. There's an index at the top to move the dates you want to look at and you can actually click around the site the way it looked for the most part at that time. I say mostly because be watchful. Sometimes when you go to a page if it can't find it because it didn't snapshot the page it will go to the existing page but it gives you a message in the top window stating this so if you plan on looking around and want to see what ammo or firearms cost a few years ago have fun. It works for other sites too, you just have to change the URL. http://web.archive.org/web/200711081555 ... 4&subcat=5

Pretty much what's in my bound book, and receipts from that time

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
I've been hanging out with you all just a few months and it seems to me that even in this short time that prices have gone up noticably across the board. In early December, I saw a new scoped PSL at a local shop for $800. I checked GB at the time and that seemed to be about average price. As of last night, $800 gets you in the bottom third of the losing bidders. They're pushing every bit of $1,000 and more now. Same thing with a nice SVT-40 that was at the time, $800. GB put them around $850 to $900. Look where they are now...$1,200! We all know of Boomer's SKS studies too.
I am sort of generalizing here, but (including Mosins) it looks very much to me like prices have risen on average 20%-30% in just 4 months

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
I can tell you one firearm I am seeing a price increase on is the AKs. I've been getting flags for it on gun-deals constantly over the last week. Besides ammo going up those and AR receivers and Mags are selling like hotcakes. Aim has a special for stripped lowers for $59.95 and they've sold out 4 or 5 times in the last month. They get them in and sell out in hours. Cope's Dist. said he's selling 2500 AR Mags. every two weeks.

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
People aren't collecting them, they are buying them to arm up in the event things go from bad to worse. Just today I had a man, a respectable local businessman, asking me about buying an AK47 and a few other weapons. He is frightened about they way things are going and wants to be able to protect his family, I will be assisting him in his selection in the coming weeks.

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
A local gun nut emailed me tonight and has two WASR 10s for sale. One hasn't been fired, the other one has had 50 rounds through it. Both come with a 30 round mag. For the price he's asking, I can't pass it up. I wish guns I really want would show up in my email

You can sell them both for a profit and buy some more Mosins, I am trying to steer the businessman to a nice pump shotgun, he is not a gun guy, and I can't picture him doing well with a WASR, the only AK's he is likely to find these days, and NY had a ten round mag rule with these.

Not a bad idea. My problem though is once it's "mine" I'm not sure I could sell it lol. Good idea on pointing your buddy towards a shotgun.Junk Yard Dog wrote:You can sell them both for a profit and buy some more Mosins

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
I'm picking up another "Mosin" this weekend, it will not be in this section but it was just too damn cool. And then I'm heading to the gun show in Fort Worth Saturday. I'm kind of scared about what they will be asking for this stuff. I was in Louisville this week and a guy that went said people were buying everything along with tons of ammo. I hate to be one of this guys that runs out and just buys a cache of shite but I may have to go but some .45 and 8mm. I've got more .380 than I need from the last deal.

He sounds like a guy that would hunker down at home. If I was like that I would go with the shotty too. But out in the woods I'd rather have the rifle.Junk Yard Dog wrote:You can sell them both for a profit and buy some more Mosins, I am trying to steer the businessman to a nice pump shotgun, he is not a gun guy, and I can't picture him doing well with a WASR, the only AK's he is likely to find these days, and NY had a ten round mag rule with these.

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
Exactly and that's what I'm seeing all over. People are buying for three reasons. To beat the panic prices, to have weapons if they decide to go after them with new anti-gun laws and to protect themselves if it all goes really bad. I'm glad I've been on the buying spree I've been on this past year and I didn't do it for any other reason then because I got great prices and bought with the intention of never having to look for ammo again. When I got here in the sticks and couldn't find anything but high priced hunting ammo that's when I decided I was never going to have to look for it. Now I only buy if it's a really really really smoking deal.Junk Yard Dog wrote:People aren't collecting them, they are buying them to arm up in the event things go from bad to worse. One other thing that's going to hurt the AR guys is Lake City has suspended all civilian sales of 5.56. I'm already seeing guys scrambling to find that stuff.

What's up with the Lake City stuff? I wondered why I couldn't find any the last couple of weeks.

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
I haven't heard why but I know the stuff is getting harder to find. It's around. Sam at SGAmmo sells it the M855 loose and put 10,000rds of it up earlier today for $329.95/1000rds and when I just looked to check for this thread it's sold out. http://gun-deals.com/deals/6997 Not sure if this has anything to do with it but there's a new round that's being developed, the M855A1, which looks like a piece of crap that someone who doesn't know ballistics or firearms came up with. http://www.gunsandammo.com/2012/03/07/m ... d-marines/BuckeyeSgt wrote:What's up with the Lake City stuff? Go here and look down the chart and there's some still around. http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php?caliber=. ... owall=true
Oh and the descriptions are clickable for each deal and take you to a page for the specific deal and there's a visit deal button that takes you to the deal on the vendors website.

its not just this country , the whole world is going down the sh##ter , Frances economy has collapsed and the north Koreans are trading nukes for food , yeah they are starving, i would think that's a bad sign , in two more years i won't be able to afford to drive down the road or shoot my guns even if there still is gas and ammo left to buy .
i am so poor i can only afford mustard and biscuits three times a week ..

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
I think Rongoman could validate this, but I am sure that all of the Winchester ammo at Walmart is about 4 bucks or so more than it was a short time ago, per box. The Winchester 555 22lr is now about 21 and change, and not too long ago was under 18.00. Today I saw a Federal brick of 500 for 19.70 and that is a 5.00 increase from the last time I bought some. Same increases on 9mm, 40s&w,, etc.....

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
Like so many he is clueless, he knows things aren't right, knows he should do something about it, but not what. At least he is getting some weapons, but he has no food storage, no plan of evac if he needs to relocate with his family, and is not the physical type who would be at home in the woods. I fear the gun will be a temporary means of safety for him and soon after things go to shit I will have to take out some scumbag who is coming at me with his shotgun. He will buy the gun, but already tells me he hates shooting guns because it hurts his shoulder, so he will not practice much, he will not buy much ammo despite my warnings to do so. I try, I can lead the horse to water but I can't make him drink. I did recommend, and I think he will go for it, that he purchase a Marlin .22 rifle, this is the only rifle i feel he could handle, he has no interest in properly learning how to handle a full sized rifle despite his initial questions about Ar's and AK when he broached the gun subject with me. The difficulty in obtaining them here in NY and the mag limits where not something he wanted to hear about, thinks they are easy to shoot because they looked it on the cable TV shows. They are easy, but you have to put in the time with them first, he will not. Some gun shop operator showed him a Mosin, he felt it was heavy, the bolt thing was hard to work, didn't care for it. Shotgun and .22, if I can get him the two then at least he will not be naked when the bad thing comes.BuckeyeSgt wrote:He sounds like a guy that would hunker down at home. Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
We have had price increases across the board. I'm still at under $20 for the Winchester 555 pack though. Right now the Federal 100 round 9mm& 40 S&W are my hot sellers. I just placed another big ammo order yesterday & plan to stay ahead of the game for as long as possible.bunkysdad wrote:I think Rongoman could validate this, but I am sure that all of the Winchester ammo at Walmart is about 4 bucks or so more than it was a short time ago, per box. Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
Time for you to transfer to the Fishkill NY Superstore Ron, they never seen to have anything in stock ammo wise. Yep, uproot your entire life, move to a strange, gun unfriendly place, all so the two times a year I go up there to shop there will be ammo on the shelves
Target selection, and cleaning brush availability needs to improve also.

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
That is kind of the way it is here too. We have 3 walmarts in the area. One always has a full stock of ammo. One mostly will have it and the other one i fricken hate cause they never have anything in stock..food, ammo, You name it they are always out. It takes at least a month for them to get anything back in too. Of course that is the one that is closest to me. I always go to one of the others if i have to have some ammo though.
