1895 Chilean Mauser

Post by Rongo »

Been wanting an 1895 Mauser for some time but have been turned off by the mismatch rough condition ones I've been seeing available as of late. Recently found this one... Spectacular condition, #'s matching on the bolt, Magazine & stock. Mirror bore save for just a bit of pitting near the chamber, deep bluing even under the furniture & a rather nice tiger striped stock. About the only thing to detract from it is the indentations & storage dings on the stock. The gentleman I got it from stated it was very accurate & a fine shooter that would turn some heads at the range. He was right on that part... It shoots like a dream & everyone wants to fondle & shoot it. Best part, it has not been converted; Still in 7mm Mauser.

One of the definitive keepers in my collection. :vcool: :vcool: :vcool:

I remember the ones I got from Atlanta Discount Ammo back in the 1980's, I had a lot of fun with them, rifle, and carbine before I ran out of surplus 7mm. 8-) 8-) 8-)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Took it out last time & it shoots great! Had to wait for my headspace gauge... It passed of course along with my Spanish Mauser. 8-)

Open invitation to Dolk... If he's ever in my neck of the woods he can play with it. Or anyone else for that matter. Just gotta bring at least one toy for me to play with.

Beautiful rifle.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
