91/30 prices are creeping up
Have you noticed??? Over the past few months multiple distributors such as AIM, J&G, SOG, TG International & the place we do not speak of have all raised the price on a standard refurb 91/30. I'm thinking maybe another wave of them are coming soon.

I have indeed noticed.
What makes you think their may be a new batch? I don't get the connection.

Just a gut feeling really... Typical to prime the market to the new price... Once everyone has adjusted the next batch arrives. Another consideration is supply, inflation & business expenses. Take away Car & home sales & we are seeing 8% inflation right now.SA1911a1 wrote:I have indeed noticed.

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
Maybe the "election year inflation" boomer is discussing in regards to SKSs is affecting our Mosins too? I can't help but think that there has been a huge increase in popularity of these old relics recently...and the more people buy 'em, the more the price is going to eek up. I am still shocked you can buy these things "new" complete with bayonet and accessories for $99 and under. I doubt the over-all sales volume would drop any at all if prices were bumped up to $110 or $120 on average. (I sure hope some import firearm marketing exec isn't reading this!)
But...due to an increase in popularity recently, it only makes sense another wave is brought in. I hope so

Fuel prices are skyrocketing, these rifles have to be shipped to the distributors, the distributors are seeing their cost of business shoot up, lights, employee costs, heat, all of this is affecting everything, not just Mosins. Have you noticed the price of food lately? Expect prices to go higher.

Re: 91/30 prices are creeping up
The price on them has gone up but only $10 for most of them. If you look here http://gun-deals.com/displaydeal.php?dealid=2727 and down the page the history of the ones at Classic Arms are still $10 below what they originally listed them for in 3/19/2009
Deal History:
3/18/2009 - Starting price of $99.95
2/4/2011 - Price was $69.95 - $-30
3/27/2011 - Price was $109.95 - $40
6/25/2011 - Price was $75 - $-34.95
7/21/2011 - Price was $79.99 - $4.99
12/1/2011 - Price is now $89.99 - $10
At AIM hey were originally listed at $69.95 on 8/13/2006 and went out of stock last time at $79.95. http://gun-deals.com/displaydeal.php?dealid=2848
Deal History:
8/13/2006 - Starting price of $69.95
11/22/2008 - Price was $69.95 - $0
2/25/2009 - Price was $79.95 - $10
4/5/2009 - Price was $79.95 - $0
9/13/2010 - Price was $69.95 - $-10
8/26/2011 - Price was $79.95 - $10
11/23/2011 - Price was $69.5 - $-10.45
11/23/2011 - Price is now $79.95 - $10.45
SOG had them for $77 on 9/8/2010 http://gun-deals.com/displaydeal.php?dealid=6244
Deal History:
9/8/2010 - Price is $77
The truth is they've gone up and down depending on availability and what the market would bear at the time. One thing I've noticed that happens with a lot of vendors is when they're about to sell out of an item they raise their price. There is more Mosins coming but the price will most likely go up if only another $10. The reason may be more about timing than anything else. As Cliff mentioned there's talk of the impending election causing prices to rise. This is true and it's already started. Yes it's happening right now. As some of you know I'm admin. for a site called gun-deals.com. For those of you who don't know what it is it's a site where people post deals on firearms, ammo and related items. As admin. I moderate the deals when someone flags the price as being incorrect I correct it or kill deals that are out of stock and resurrect deals that are now back in stock. I see the fluctions in ammo and firearms prices all day long. I've been hesitant to say much about what I see because I don't want to be part of the feeding frenzy that's for sure in it's early stages and will most likely be a repeat of 2008. It doesn't have to happen but it's something that feeds on itself and the fire is stoked by vendors, consumers and even the NRA. Yes you saw that right the NRA. Actually the current president has been real good for the firearms industry.
That said what I've seen starting last year in about June was prices dropped and there were great deals to be had. Black Friday saw some of the best deals and record sales figures ever registered in the firearms industry. Then about mid Jan. of this year I started to see ammo prices slowly rise. Not a real big change but prices started to creep north. Than about 3 weeks ago I was constantly correcting prices on ammo and firearms and it's been steady ever since. Keep in mind I don't just correct the flags the users submit. I go through every caliber of ammo on the site starting from the first one until I reach the last. It takes almost a month if I work on it 8 to 12 hours a day and I visit every deal listed. Some calibers have 250+ deals listed. Some only a few. My point is I'm seeing pricing in real time as well as the changes that they're incuring. Registration on the site up from a few people a day to sometimes 10 or more. We have anywhere from 50 people online at any one time to 250+ at peak times. It used to be about 120 at peaks for an hour or so. It's 150 to 250 at any time of the day any day of the week. People are getting edgy and are buying the hype. They're also buying ammo and firearms. When I saw the flags for .223 I was in the middle of the ammo charts checking and validating deals. I decided because I was getting 4 or 5 .223 flags as out of stock to go back to that catagory and recheck it. I just checked it 21 days before and it had almost 300 deals. When I was done going through the whole catagory there was only 205 and about 75 to 80% of what was left saw some price increase.
My suggestion to anyone reading this is to not panic. Don't believe the hype and don't buy ammo at inflated prices because you think it's not going to be there in the future. No matter what happens in Nov. the ammo industry is going nowhere and you'll be able to get what you need when the dust settles. Just have what you need to get through the madness and not what you think you'll need the rest of your life.

Inflation as a result of high fuel cost, this will be the ruin of all of us I fear.

Diesel cost is already hurting us badly, another gun buying frenzy will not hurt me as I already have my pile, but it will hurt the newer collectors just getting started. What I need are reloading components, right now they are top priority.
