Chinese Sks , good price?

Post by Mizzoujohn »

There is a Chinese sks locally in pretty good condition, matching #s, for $265. It is missing the bayonet. Is this a good price? There's a 500 table gun show in 2 weeks. Would I likely find a cheaper one there?
Thanks

Without knowing more, it sounds a bit high to me. Are there any more details you can add?

$300 is normal going price in my area, once in a while one pops for 250/275, and listed SPF shortly after listing.

Is it missing just the bayonet or also missing the bayonet lug?

I would wait and get one with the bayonet if you could. I say this but i did get one without from a friend, but i bought the bayo and have not put it on yet. I think it was $10 + shipping for a chinese spike. :D

Plenty of bayonets around, and the Chinese rifles are good shooters.

That is a fair price for one in reasonably good condition, these days. You might find what looks like a great price on Gunbroker for $220, and then pay $50-70 for shipping and transfer fees. A Chinese SKS in not C&R eligible, so an 01FFL transfer is necessary.

So, yeah. $265 is not overpriced.

Oh my, you stirred up a hornets nest. Of all of the SKS variants, the Chinese have more guidelines to extract pricing.

As Martin pointed out, the Chinese SKS are not C & R compliant. It is a violation of 922 Federal Rules and Regulations to buy and put a bayonet on any Chinese SKS that was not originally sold with one. Towards the end, many rifles were sold with out a bayonet. Many had to have the lug ground off, by the importer I think, before they could be sold. These were the very last rifles on a dealers shelf.

Any how, I am just saying I needed to point out the rest of the story.
