I can not identify this receiver cover. I am assuming it is for different mounts....but why would you put a mount on a part other than receiver or barrel? It wouldn't stay zero. I don't care for this cover are they interchangeable without many issues? Are there any that are not compatable?

Re: Chinese Norinco SKS Receiver Cover Question
Aftermarket cover, the covers are interchangeable. It may need a little fitting, but not normally, they usually drop right on.
I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem.
Re: Chinese Norinco SKS Receiver Cover Question
That is actually a cover put out by Norinco, and there is a specific Norinco mount that fits. Still junk. Won't hold zero.
As GM has stated, most any other OEM cover will fit.

Norinco scope mount, is that the reason for the 2 top holes on the left side of the cover and not a rail, correct? Thought it was kind of odd an looking cover at first.

Re: Chinese Norinco SKS Receiver Cover Question
This may have been original in the configuration that it was imported, but not the way it was originally built. The SKS had many commercial accessory variations over the years, but they all started out with standard equipment at the arsenal.
I used to have one of the Norinco mounts and covers, but can't seem to find a pic (if I ever took one). I never installed it, and sold it instead. The concept of the cover mount suffers from the fatal flaw of not holding zero.
As your gun is obviously in an aftermarket stock already, I see no real advantage to finding an original cover, unless you are also planning to revert to the wooden stock.

Re: Chinese Norinco SKS Receiver Cover Question
This is my Norinko with the aftermarket receiver and scope. This will get me on paper at 100 yards but thats about it. Its cheap and fun for center of mass shots but you wont be getting tight MOA groups. This thing is secured with set screws and yes...it shakes and rattles a bit and constantly needs retightening.
Like I said...cheap and fun. The cover comes off easily and is quickly swapped out with the original cover so no harm done to the rifle with no permanent alteration.
