My son-in-law's truck was parked next to our mailbox, not in front of it mind you and far enough over that the mail person could reach the mail box from their vehicle. Weirder is she doesn't normally deliver our mail until 1600 if we're lucky, today she came by at 1200.
Well she didn't even slow down, she just went on by, so no mail for me today (Although Informed Delivery showed 6 letters for today). Over sized packages delivered by USPS don't even make it to the front door anymore, they get dropped off in the driveway by the garage door, rain or shine. She just backs up in the driveway and drops them off.
At least FedEx and UPS deliver them to the front door, and rings the doorbell.
Customer service is going to hell real quick I tell you.

Re: USPS Woes
I grease their palms, we have a regular guy who's here every day walking the mail right in the door. We became a dismount decades ago when we started shipping a lot of packages. We don't ship that many now, but that hasn't been brought to the post masters attention. C note at Christmas, twenty here and there all year. Isn't it your birthday, here take this, happy Fourth of July take this, and so on. I have no problems with delivery, of course your mail lady could just be a fucking Karen as the kids call the type these days. We had a different word we used in my day.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: USPS Woes
Our mail lady is LAZY. My mail ends up in my next door neighbors box, or on the next street. Or doesn't get delivered and when I stop her on the other side of the street, her excuse is the mail was mis-sorted so that's why it didn't get delivered. Oh and it's not her job to double check the mail and re-sort it. If it's mis-sorted it goes back to the PO for re-sorting for delivery the next day. Hell I've had mail that shows out for delivery that has never made it to my mailbox. My daughter-in-law was waiting for some time sensitive court documents regarding child support payments from her ex, it showed out for delivery and never arrived. She had to call the court house and ask for an extension for the filling date as she was still awaiting the documents. To this day we have to idea where the first batch went to.Junk Yard Dog wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 6:02 pm I grease their palms, we have a regular guy who's here every day walking the mail right in the door. So our mail person is lazy, incompetent, and full of excuses and quick to lay blame on someone else for her short comings and piss poor job performance. Yeah she's a Karen at times!
Our service just keeps getting worse and worse. If I know I have a package out for delivery, I watch the security cameras. That way I can see her coming down the road, and meet her at the mailbox to ensure I get it. If not I'm left trying to figure out were it went and having to put a message on the neighborhood web page to see who got my mail.

Re: USPS Woes
Mike lives 75 miles S.W. of me, both of us in Florida. There is a sorting center 30 miles from me. I mailed him a package and it went N.E. for a hundred miles, to Georgia, then from there, S.E. for a hundred miles, again in Ga., before finally heading to him. I think that the USPS wants things to cool a bit before they deliever them; either that or they are trying to make sure that the Soviets can't figure out our system. Of course, if it is Amazon shipping, I can order tonight and have it delivered to my mailbox tomorrow...go figure.

Package arrived today Steve. I stood out there, next to the mailbox, to make sure it got delivered.SA1911a1 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 7:01 am Mike lives 75 miles S.W. of me, both of us in Florida. Re: USPS Woes
What's even more fun is when the package arrives smashed to shit. Usually not going to be the fault of the person delivering it to your box, but you never know if you have a hostile relationship with the regular delivery person. I hear USPS closed some sorting places a few years ago and things have been getting interesting since then. Once had a shock absorber go from New York to New Jersey by way of Hawaii.

Tracking a shipment recently that was headed for Ogden UT from Cheyenne WY.
First stop was Denver, then Salt Lake City but instead of stopping there it went to Reno, back to SLC, and was finally headed to Ogden.

Re: USPS Woes
We had an excellent mail carrier, but from what the guy who worked at the small local post office told us, she came down with Covid and had some pretty bad complications from it, so we've gone through a number of replacements. Now it appears that we are now stuck with the gal who won't bring any large packages up tot he bench that we have on our covered back porch area, she sets them on top of the 96 gallon trash container or leans them up against the door of the barn. If she can "tetris" everything into the mailbox at the road she will, including bending things to fit.
Now, I ship anywhere from 1600 to 2000 packages a year of my sight adjusting tools all around the world, 36 countries to date. But I can vouch that this year has been nothing but fubar from the start. Not just in my shipments going out, but also in stuff that I purchased. From gun parts to shop supplies, packages are literally disappearing for sometimes a month in transit. I shipped a tool to a fellow in Phoenix and 4 weeks later he contacted me to let me know it hadn't arrived. I sent him another right off, then did a search request and an insurance claim as I ship everything Ground Advantage now. A week later, I received a check in the mail for $21, and also an email letting me know that it had been delivered. The buyer was nice enough to refuse the second one so I go that back, and yes, I cashed that check!
I also ran into this with a couple of AR barrels that I purchased, they went into "in transit arriving late"status a few days in, about the time that they SHOULD have been delivered.
And had an Amazon order of multiple items that was supposed to be delivered yesterday, somehow got shunted off from the local distribution center to a post office 200 miles away, so now my curing sal won't be here until tomorrow for me to make some bacon!
