Non refurb SKS?

Post by Gusso »

Hello, I bought this Russian SKS "letter series" D about 12-13 years ago. I'm a Mosin guy, so I don't have much knowledge about them. There are no line outs and it's all matching, so I figure it is not refurbished as the seller advertised. It's in very good condition. At the time, I paid $600 , what would be a fair price today? I'm thinking $900-$1000. There is a guy interested and I would like to price it fairly. Thanks.

There is an Izhevesk sks like yours on GunBroker with a buy it now price of $1600. That seems high, butTula ones are far more common than Izhevesk, so idk.

You may have paid a little more than the average that long ago, but not by much. I bought my '52 Tula a couple of years after you, at a gunshow, and paid $500.00 for it. (Mine is refurbished) I think that was about the going price at that time. One thing for certain, you could turn a profit on it today. The average over the past few months is about $750.00 (If you don't mind risking prison with the new BATF rulings.) ;)

I had this one confused with an sks that was posted the other day. SA1911a1 has the correct take on the pricing, I'd say.

Check the bayonette screw stakes. If it's been restaked it's a refurb.

I honestly don't know what a restake would look like. Here's mine...

So, would $900-950 be a fair price?

I don't know what it's worth in the US, but I do know that $ 600 in 2011 is worth $838 today.
