1969 M39

Post by Inkedforlife76 »

Dug a mint in cosmoline m39 out of storage. Hang tag.

Curious if 69 was a lower production year for these. Are hang tags very common.

Very nice, I think all the later date M39's were low production.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Sweet!
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Nice example of a Late Date m/39. 1969 is the least common of the four years that AV1 and AV3 assembled these: 1967-1970. They assembled a total of roughly 6,400 Late Date m/39 rifles from reconditioned earlier production and spare parts.

There are rumors of 1973-dated examples, but despite my best efforts I have yet to authenticate one.

Were they made, that late, for the military or for the consumer?
