Today's Backyard Visitor...AKA Snake!

Post by ffuries »

Apparently it's living under the old AC pad, that we have the water hose caddy sitting on. The snake is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet long.

Not 100% sure, but it looks to be another Florida Banded Water Snake. Tune in next week to see more of Mikey's Florida Geographic Channel and our backyard visitors....

:chuckles:

Cool snake, what did you name it?
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Named it Jim, he's a little cantankerous, and doesn't like people very much, and had a nasty attitude!

That sounds like someone I know but I can't quite put my finger on who. Happens when you start to get older, forgetting shit, it will come to me eventually.

Oh for the record, since it wasn't a venomous snake, we released it in another area of the yard where the dogs wouldn't bother it.

Had it been a venomous one, it would have been transported (If we could do so safely) down the road to the bayou and released over there. Don't like killing them for no reason, but in the case of a large Water Moccasin aka Cottonmouth or large Rattlesnake those would probably be grave-yarded right there in the yard.

That's kinda insensitive Steve, it is his pet after all, and you can't eat pets until the second month of the apocalypse.
