FIL in Accident.....

Post by ffuries »

Hope everyone is having a great Easter. Just heard from my wife's family, her father was on his way to work, when an 18 year old speeding down the on ramp, loss control and slammed into my FILs truck slamming him into the guardrail.

FIL, has seatbelt bruising, pain and tingling in his right foot and hand and chest/sternum pain/discomfort. They just took him back for a MRI, so needless to say my wife is beside herself right now. I'll post updates as we get them.

Another idiot texting while driving most likely, or high, or both. This happened to the father of a friend of mine a few years back, only he didn't make it. 17 year old girl couldn't put the phone down for ten fucking seconds, it was still in her hand when she stumbled out of the car. Hope he's OK.

Good news is there are no breaks of any kind. But he'll be brusied and sore for a while, which is to be expected.

The kid that hit him, apparently has a history of speeding and reckless driving. State Police showed up, asked my FIL what happened, talked to a couple witnesses, went to the other driver saw who it was and went yeap you're at fault again, based on statements from witnesses and the other driver.

His family talking to my SIL in the waiting room, not knowing was the other drivers daughter, apparently thought it was the State Police coming to the house to let them know their son had been killed in an accident or to be arrested for speeding again. Which pretty much backs up what my FIL heard about the kid from the State Police.

How do these people with bad driving records keep being allowed to drive? Friggin lock their asses up before they kill somebody!

Here's my FILs truck, you can see where the drivers side of his truck made contact with the left hand guard rail. Then his truck went careening across the highway hitting the right hand guard rail with the passenger side.

Don't know where the kid hit him exactly....Still getting the information and trying to understand it all.

Talked to my FIL today, and got more information on the accident.

This is the area the accident occurred. After getting hit and slammed into the left guard rail, he rode it aways. Then before the overpass you see in the picture, his truck took off across the highway and slammed into the right guard rail and rode it aways before finally coming to a stop.

The 18 year old kid has been charged/ticketed for speeding, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, some other charge with causing an accident with bodily harm. The kids girlfriend was apparently severely injured in the accident.

Looks like he will need a new ride, that trailblazer has had it. It did it's job and kept him alive. Too bad about the girlfriend, hope she has a father who can sort that boyfriend out, if he has to kill him we will understand.

Take the doors and fenders off the blazer and make a dune buggy out of it. :cool2:
