At the Range with a Walther PP
At the Range with a Walther PP
Today I was shooting the classic Walther PP in 7.65mm (.32 ACP) at 20 yards on the IPSC Practice target. My single action shots were center of mass on the target, but the double action shots danced out of the center; mostly left. Ammo was PPU .32 Auto 71gr FMJ. The single action pull on this pistol is smooth, but the double action pull must be 18-20 lbs; not conducive to fine accuracy. I shoot this piece rarely, but when I do, it is a real pleasure.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Looks familiar. I sure liked mine but could not hang onto it. I didn't have the trigger problem, it must be fixable.

Thats a real looker.
Bond started out with a Beretta 418 in .25 ACP. Of course, he was a good enough shot to always place the shot between the ribs to penetrate the heart for ranges up to 300M. I could never get that kind of results from my 418, but then again, the highest I ever got was 003. (except that time in '69 when I got into some opiated hash) ;)

That's because the 418 has magic dust sprinkled on it in the Stembridge gun room before being sent out to the set's. That's to make sure that Hollywood actors with no skills at all can still look like they can outshoot a Marine sniper and get the shot in one take saving the studio money. The problems started when the actors started snorting the dust instead of leaving it on the gun, look what happened to that Alec Baldwin idiot.

William Conrad "Canon". was the greatest pistol shot in TV history. He could hit a man at 75 yds., running, with his 2" snub. He musta had an inside line on the dust.
