I have some Fahrenheit for you...

Feels like -54F

But it's a dry cold.
Sounds like you have good weather to do that polar plunge thing, if you can find liquid water, or blast a hole in the ice on some lake. All life would end here at -42. It would be like one of the doomsday movies, everyone just frozen in place like that movie 2012.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

So if it's -52 and you pee outside, does it make a little ice sculpture ?

When it's this cold my little acorn pulls back in just like a turtles head. :chuckles:

We are about to get a big dose of Wintertime in N. Florida. For about four days we are expecting temps in the 20s and teens. The last time we had a Christmas like this was back in the 80s. Our company worked for six months fixing broken water lines. Tallahassee is a big college town with two universities, and a large Jr. College. All of these people will be gone over the hollidays; a lot of them will turn off the heat to save money and will come back to a swimming pool. FSU alone has 43,000 little sweeties, most of them going home for the holiday.

I am glad that I will miss the mess this time; that 80s freeze was a full grown sumbitch for plumbers. I was the superintendent of my company at that time, but I got out and worked with my tools too because there was just so much money to be made...;)

That is not a very realistic picture. Nobody that age can get a stream that far!

1989 if I recall, I was in Germany called my parents on Christmas and my dad asked if we were having a White Christmas. Told him no, it was wet (Raining) and green, he said they had snow. I called BS, saying no way Panama City, Florida had snow. Well guess what they had a White Christmas and we had a Wet Christmas......Go figure! A few days later, we finally got snow and man did it dump some serious snow on us.

I did when my Kidney Stone finally passed, I hadn't had a normal stream in 3 weeks when it was moving between the kidney and the bladder. Then when it shot out, I was just along for the ride when all that backed up liquid was free to escape........

51. hard rain and high wind this morning, but I am told the deep freeze is on the way for the weekend and the months to follow. No talking about piss while I'm trying to drink my tea.

It is on its way, 44° in Hoosierville last night at 7pm, -8°F this AM, wind chill -36°F , 5" snow, 30+ mph sustained winds and they now say we are officially in a blizzard.

The good news is we hit the candy store Tuesday and I have enough bourbon to make it to Ground Hog Day.

At daylight this morning it was 44 out, now in the "heat of the day" it is 36. Going to the deep freeze tonight, sun is bright and the wind is blowing like a storm. I have got to go start "winterizing" the outbuildings, shutting down or dripping water to keep everything from freezing and busting. It is probably going to be the once every 20 year, cold snap that you write home about. The plumbers are going to be working overtime. I wish that you people on the other side of the Mason-Dixon would keep your weather to yourself. ;)

What I hate is that the mild weather, up to now, has my pear, calamondin and loquat trees budding and blooming. It shall be a fruitless summer.

We normally pick these as we need them from our hobby orchard. Anything left on the tree after tonight won't be fit to eat after freezing.
For scale, that is one side of a full size kitchen sink. Meyer Lemons and tangerines. Lemonade anyone?

It was 52 this morning and raining hard, it is now 13 at 8pm and heading for 5 by daylight. Near 50 degrees drop in 12 hours, that rain has frozen everything, but at least we got no snow. Firing up the diesel snow plow in this weather would be pure hell. I parked my ass in front of the wood stove all day with the kitties to keep me warm, same on tap for the rest of the weekend. Lots of hot tea, some of the endless cookies I seem to accumulate this time of year, while I wait for the fat man in the red suit to squeeze down the chimney with a bag of cat treats, and cases of ammo.

Did I mention the high winds? It makes that 13 seem so much more delightful, I hope it dies down before I have to face 5 come morning.
