Still running the AC...

Post by SA1911a1 »

Been wearing shorts and golf shirts all week, temp today to go to 84. The grass is still green. In the days when I was a kid, it could be very cold by Halloween, and should be cold by Thanksgiving and this time of year, you would be having to protect stuff from hard freezes. That is a lot of changes in 60 years.

It was up almost to 50 this afternoon with the sun out. 46 when I left the shop, 42 when I answered the phone an hour ago, and 38 now. I see a trend developing that will probably have me scraping frost off the windshield in the morning. Spent the afternoon running the log splitter making some nice red oak firewood because they tell me the S word happens on Sunday, and maybe two more times next week. No S is not for shit, it's worse because it blocks everything up and I have to clean it up. The snow plow has its battery maintainer hooked up, we are getting fuel in the morning, and I will load that oak, at least a cord of it onto the M37 and drive it into the shop to feed the woodstove that has already been going 24/7 for two weeks now.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Tell me, AC running and CINC Household was out cutting and treating the yard yesterday for ants, weeds, etc. Crap we're in December and the fire ants had a 10 foot long fort along the sidewalk, I think they were planning an invasion. Still having to feed the Koi as they are still active.

This is another screwed up Winter for Florida, means we'll have lots of mosquitoes next seasons. 68° right now.......

My daughter is spending her fourth winter in Anchorage. She had a snow event to write home about this week. Her second floor deck was nearly up to the top of the railing in the powder, and this time of year, there is very little daylight to deal with it. I believe she wants this to be her last Winter up there.

Sounds like that lake effect crap they get up north of us, Buffalo has around six feet a couple of weeks back I heard. Glad I only heard about it because I fuck sure don't want to experience it personally. How does one go about the normal necessities of life when the house and town are buried under the snow? Tunnel to work?
