Lest we forget. The fleet was undergoing the usual laid back Sunday morning routine...

I was 2 years old at that time.....but, by the age of 5, I understood what was happening.....My uncles were in the war, my Dad was a Master Sergeant in the National Guard and on the staff of a POW camp in the Mississippi Delta for German Officers and soldiers..about 2000 men......we also had a military flight training unit at the adjacent airfield to the POW's...young trainees would live in local homes with families, including mine, while in training for their 90 day programs....I remember the celebrations after the war....parades, flags, so many lucky families whose military kin came home.......and the families who never recovered from the losses of their loved-ones.......

Sad part is most of the population has forgotten, not one person mentioned it to me all day. Not even when I fished a little bit. You know what they say about shit you forget; you get to repeat the pleasure over again.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
